I just went to a wedding where the invitation had stated in the lower left corner 'An Affair for Adults'.

I just got an invitation that said No Children please in the lower left corner of the response card.

My problem is I already have my invitations and now feel I have to make some kind of extra note somewhere to state that no children are allowed. Any suggestions of something I could add since my invites are already printed?
Thanks!

It is funny that you posted this b/c I posted something similar on Friday. This was my problem: I had printed on my invitations 'Adult Reception Immediately Following'. When I started getting back responses I got back one from a couple that said 3 next to number attending (they have a 4 year old daughter). I also adressed the envelopes as Mr. and Mrs. John Doe. I had to call them up and tell them that there must be a misunderstanding and that there will be no children.
My point is that no matter what you have printed or extra note you put on the invitation there could still be a problem. My suggestion to you would be that since your invititations are already printed, address the envelopes specifically to the couple. If you get back responses about kids you will have to call them and let them no that there was a misunderstanding.
Good Luck! I know exactly how you feel.

i think having childeren at a wedding is a beautiful thing. it may cost more, but you may lose the special feelings that all childern share in the joy of the day.

Cost was not really my reason for not having children at the wedding. From past experience I have seen that some parents do not watch their children at weddings b/c they are too busy having a good time. The kids tend to get very wild and run around and no one stops them. We did not want this so we chose not to have children there.

There are also some situations, such as Cindy's, that if you let some bring children they ALL bring children. That can add 10+ to the price and not everyone wants young children at an evening formal affair. I think this is a personal decision and parents should respect a couples wishes. I don't think you can add anything Cindy to your invites to solve this problem. You are going to have to make phone calls if someone writes their children on the RSVP. Although it is not proper etiquette, you can ask the invite place to print you up some small insert cards on white card stock that read 'Reception is for adults only' but I am not a fan of that practice.
In my case I have a 3 yr old niece, 7 yr old nephew, 4 yr old nephew, 13 yr brother, and my best friend's 11 yr old son and 14 yr old daughter (all in wedding party) being invited. The ONLY exception I am making is for Scott's cousin that lives in Canada. If she comes and wants to bring her infant son (who has special needs) and 4 yr old daughter with her that is okay. I figure she cannot leave them in Canda so far away since their grandmother (Scott's Aunt) is also attending the wedding. If anyone else has a problem with their children not being invited, they can decline the invite.

Could you just have the respond card redone? Ask the printer for just the card, since you already have the envelopes. It can't hurt to ask if that is what you want done.

Try to get the word out via word of mouth. My FI says that even tho I wrote Adult Reception to follow, there are people out there who will take it as I am an adult and my child is accompanying me I think people needs to respect the couple's wishes. The reason you stated why you did not want children is the very same reason we are not having any, not even in the bridal party. We have been telling everyone. Our reception card was worded in such a way that there was no mistaking, who was invited, ie We have reserved 2 seats for you. Since the invites are already printed all I can suggest is word of me.

All the best and happy planning
