Just curious as to what type of ceremony you are having and what other events you may be holding. I also have a question about mehndi if you are doing that- concerning nail polish. Sounds silly but nothing really goes well with the henna.

Re: any indian brides out there?
me we're having a sikh wedding in california and then a reception in CA and one in LI.
with the mehndi problem - id just wear nail polish that matches your outfit. don't worry about it matching the color of the mehndi too much.
FH's family is doing a sangeet/mehndi in CT and we're doing one in CA.
what do you have planned?

Re: any indian brides out there?
That sounds pretty cool. I'm having a Hindu wedding so I don't think there are too many differences. I'm marrying an American but we are having a Hindu ceremony anyway. We'll incorporate things like having bridesmaids/groomsmen and walking down the aisle with my father. We found a place that has mandaps. Before that, we are having the sangeet the Thursday before. Then Friday we'll do the haldi haat (I'm not sure if you do that too) and then the mehndi. The problem with picking a color that matches my dress is that for the ceremony I'll be wearing red and the reception is a pink color. I was thinking of doing a french manicure but I don't know if that will look too plain for my wedding. What will you be wearing?

Re: any indian brides out there?
oh man .. i actually didnt think about that. i'm wearing marroon in the morning and thought id get my nails done in a matching marroon shade with some nail art on them. but i figured i'd get a reception outfit in a similar color. but i just ordered a pink outfit. hmm ... i think maybe i'll just re-paint my nails for the evening. i can't really think of anything that would go well with marroon and pink.. but i havent experimented yet.
the french manicure could work .. personally i think it might look simple with indian outfits. but if its your style it could go well.
who are you renting the mandap from? and are you using an indian photographer as well?

Re: any indian brides out there?
Wow- are colors are pretty similiar. I am wearing a lehnga for both events. The red is actually maroon w/ the gold work on it. My problem with changing nail colors is that the cocktail hour and reception immediately follows the ceremony. I do agree with you that a french manicure would look too simple with the lehnga and jewelry and everything. I didn't think of that. Do you think a neutral color also is too simple- like a beige or something? Probably. I am getting the mandap from a place in Queens. I can get you the # if you need it. Where is your ceremony? In CT? Oh- I should ask you this since you are more familiar w/ how Indians are- I am going to do the bouquet toss and want to have something to toss for the guys - instead of a garter bc that will be embarrassing. Any suggestions?

We talked to 1 indian photographer and I got into a argument with him on the phone so we are going with a photographer that's done many indian weddings- Fine Art Photography and Video.

Re: any indian brides out there?
actually our ceremony is in california .. so nothing really big going on in CT. we werent going to go with an indian photographer just cuz we've been so disappointed in the past with their attitudes etc.
but FH found this great one - Studio Karishma .. i met him on my last trip out there and really liked him.
i think a beige/sand type of color might work. i had this one called desert something that was between pink and reddish that used to go with everything. i think you'll just have to go out there and experiment
hmm about the garter i'm not sure .. i'll think about it thought and let u know if i come up with anything
