Re: any info on greece for honeymoon?
The Summer Olympics being held in Athens are in August not Sept.
If you are honeymooning in Sept, then the Greek Isles would be perfect! I have always wanted to go in Sept. because I have heard from many people that is the best month to go. The weather is still warm and beautiful and plus all the tourists have mostly gone.
Are you looking for a quiet island or something with some nightlife?

we want to go a few different islands. we want nice and upscale, but fun. beaches and nightlife nearby. we want some touristy stuff, since we do not speak greek at all. i was thinking of corfu, santorini and mykonos. what do you think?

Re: any info on greece for honeymoon?
I've been to Greece and several of the isles. My suggestion to you is to go to Rhodes and Santorini. Both beautiful places with lots to do if you wanna be touristy and beautiful beaches if you wanna relax. Mykonos is nice, but there absolutely nothing to do there except drink and lay on the beach and the beaches are crazy packed. We had to wait a long time to find a spot to lay down and we had to nearly fight off other people for it. And don't worry about speaking the language--many people there speak English. My suggestion is to take the little island hopper airplanes if you can and avoid the ferry (they run erratically and can be totally stopped if it's too windy, leaving you stranded--can you tell I had a horror story with this?). Take a look at the attached website. It gave me lots of info and ideas. You'll have a great time there!Greek Islands

Sorry to jump in on your thread Jeanine since I have no good advice! I just wanted to say that FH and I are also thinking about going to Greece, and if anybody has the # of a Greek travel agent or a travel agent who specializes in vacations to Greece, I'd really appreciate it

The greek isles are beautiful! September is a nice time to go - the tourist season is nearing the end there at that time (check with a travel agent - it might be getting a little chilly there if you go too late in Sept.) My suggestion would be to spend a few days on a few different islands because they all have something to offer. Mykonos is definitely the party island so if you want a few nights out dancing, and nothing but shopping and beach time during the day, go there. I would love to go back to Greece - you will love it there!

I would recommend Mykonos, Santorini and Paros. They are all beautiful islands and very close to each other.
Rhodes and Corful are beautiful too but are much bigger and you will need more than a few days too really experience the whole island.
Have fun!

Re: any info on greece for honeymoon?
I want to honeymoon in Greece, but my FH doesn't. He is from Isreal and says its too much like home.
Anyway, I went to Mykonos- and it was great. Lots of partying and beautiful beaches. The island was beautiful!! And an older crowd (I went at 24 and felt very comfortable). I was with a girl friend and it was like Spring break for 20 and 30 somethings.
But we were not on our honeymoon.... I think it could also be very romantic.
