Any info on Puerto Rico

Hi.
My Fi and I are going to Puerto Rico in three weeks, any restaurant recommendations or things that we should do? We are staying in San Juan.
Thanks!

Any info on Puerto Rico

I went last year and had a great time.
We went to the tropical rainforest and to the bacardi factory, both were great.
We stayed at the el conquistador and ate only at the property. Usualy we check out the local places but the food was so good we didn't bother.
Have a great time!

Where are you staying in San Juan? I was just there on business a few weeks ago and my fiance came along. We had some free time and did some exploring. We stayed in Condado so I know that area a little bit. I also went to the rainforest and that was really fun.

Hi LaurenS-
My FH and I went there 3 years ago--a word of advice, rent a car. We didn`t rent one (even though all the travel guides said to) and cabs apparently don`t travel out of San Juan. We ended up going on tour groups and spent a fortune and didn`t get to spend much time at anything. Especially the rainforest-we spent about 10 minutes there!
Just a precaution!
I hope you have an awesome time!!!

I just wanted to mention somewhat of a warning about renting a car in PR. I did (because I had to so I could work) and it was not a pleasant experience. They drive crazy down there! Many people don't stop at stop signs, run red lights, they are just very agressive. It is also really hard to find your way around - There are barely any street signs. I do agree that the tours are really expensive but if you rent a car, just be prepared. Even if you're used to driving in NY, it is much, much worse!

This is so weird! I just signed on since my wedding (I just got back from Hawaii) and here is an old post of mine from March--how weird.
Everything was great, I will post a full review soon and once figure out to get pictures scanned in, I will include those too!!

Re: Any info on Puerto Rico

I am from Puerto Rico and lived there for about 5 years. I suggest not to stay the whole time in San Juan as there is very little to do and the beaches are not as nice as other parts of PR.

You must go to see 'El Yunque' which is the biggest rain forest in PR with stunning waterfalls. I have pictures if you would like to see let me know.

Definetly go down south towards La Palguera and Guanica...down in those cities the beaches are amazing with the crystal clear water.

You must rent a car and with a map you should be able to get everywhere from San Juan without any problems.

Also the ferry to Culebra Island is a must. Culebra Island is beautiful and I recommend it to everybody.

All the food is amazing. I am not sure but I think in the hotel Conquistador in San Juan there is a restaurant called LA PARMA and its amazing.

So many things to do...I will think of more and let you know.
