Re: Any jewish girls perform in a non jewish ceremony
. Why wouldn't she be able to be in your ceremony ? When I go to a catholic wedding I am able to participate only I do not take communion or do the cross sign over my body because I am Jewish , but I can still stand there with my friend.

She probably feels that she has to ask her rabbi just to be sure. If you are not having a religious ceremony, it should not be an issue, but if there are any religious parts, she might be uncomfortable. It's totally a personal thing in some cases. Just don't be offended. I'm sure she'd love to be up there with you!

That makes no sense to me! You wedding is on a Sunday so she cant say its on Sabbath. I dont why she has to ask the Rabbi if its ok for her to be in the BP!? ETA: If she keeps kosher, she will need a kosher meal or might not even eat at all there if the hall is not kosher

thats crazy...Is she asking her Rabbi if he supports your decision to marry who you want. She is not the one getting married, I think that is kind of insulting.
I am jewish, although, reformed it would have no bearing in standing up for my friend and being by her side in marring the man she loves!

Re: Any jewish girls perform in a non jewish ceremony
I am reformed but fh is orthodox so I know all the laws. There is no law that states that a jew cannot take part in a non-jewish ceremony. Maybe she just feels uncomfortable with it bc of her own feelings toward religion and needs an excuse that wont offend you? Maybe you should talk to her about it. It would really be a shame for her to turn doing being you bm because of a law that, frankly, doesnt exist.
