Any ladies have Empire Insurance (thru school) and received epidural? Question about coverage.

My health insurance is through the school I work at, the insurance is Empire. It gets a bit confusing... hospital portion is thru blue cross/blue shield, anesthesia is through united health care.... etc.... from what I have been told.

My question: If you had an epidural, were you covered? I just tried calling and was told an epidural is covered, but if it's not a participating provider (which she said most hospital anesthesiologists aren't partcipators) , I have to pay $300 deductible and then they cover 80% of the expense. Does this sound correct?

Did you receive a bill after your hospital stay with any charges you didn't expect? Just curious as to what to expect once the baby arrives. Thanks so much.

I have the same insurance through the school I work at and everything was covered. I think I paid $200 for the whole delivery and that was with an epidural, a c section, and a baby in the nic unit that had to stay longer than expected.
