Julie don't leave until you get an answer in writing! If you can't see the lawyer your mom worked with ask for one of the partners and get them to sign something that says they will turn over the $$ to the co.

OMG Julz! The same thing happened to us w/ our lawyer. He was holding the sellers $ in escrow for the taxes the previous owner owed and when I call him to get it, he doesn't return our calls. I just gave up, which I know I shouldn't, but I didn't know what else to do. I hope you get this resolved. My lawyer was the worst!

I would write him a letter--keep copies of all correspondence--saying you want the $ immediately, you have been following up with this for x months, etc. Give him a week to respond, then call to complain. It's always best to have proof of following up or he can just say you never called to inquire about it. They're sneaky!
