any lawyers out here? need immed. prenup help

I have to sign a prenup b/c fh owns a company that he started years before we met.. it is very succesful and needs to protect his assets.

I am totally OK with this. The thing is my attny that I have been working with doesn't agree with the prenup and doesnt advise me to sign it.... it is MORE than generous.

my FH won't go through with the wedding..um in 11 days unles this is signed and supported by my counsel....

Any of you a Family Law attny that could help me???

you can sign a prenup without having a lawyer ...

but regardless, your lawyer has to let you sign it if you want to .... i'm a bit confused

The lawyer told me if I sign the agreement against his recommendation that that this would subject the agreement to more intense scrutiny and, perhaps, would result in its being thrown out by a court in the future'

I'm no lawyer but i think that's bull.

DH and I got a prenup (because i own a house and he doesn't) ... my lawyer said that DH does not need a lawyer at all (though he did use one). The lawyer said it'd still be valid regardless.

I actually used a lawyer that Barb (barbtony) works for - Brancato, Brancato & Brancato in Garden City. You could always try contacting them to get a consultation or whatnot. They were fairly affordable and really nice.

I'm a 'new' lawyer, so you can't really rely on my advice.

I don't really understand what he means about subjecting it to 'higher scrutiny?'

Basically, if you sign a contract against your lawyer's recommendation, you're 'entering at your own risk.' Maybe you should talk to the lawyer about what he doesn't think is right about the pre-nup. He may have a valid reason. There may be something in the prenup that the lawyer can't agree to because it is against public policy or something.

Tons of people sign contracts every day without the consent of a lawyer - people get a lawyer solely to make sure that they are signing what they are being told they are signing.

I would definitely seek out a lawyer. I'm sure there are girls on here with recommendations.
