Any Lutheran brides out there - about unity candle??

Are unity candles a part of the lutheran wedding ceremony or is it a catholic thing? I really have no idea about this. TIA!

I am Catholic, FH is Lutheran and we are getting married by a Methodist. We are doing a unity candle. It's not really a religous thing...it all depends on what unity candle ceremony you choose.

what is the whole point of unity candles though? If its not religious then why is it done at the church?

The whole point of the unity candle is to unity the bride and groom, their families, if there are children involved...uniting them all as a family. You can google unity candle ceremonies and tons will pop up. Some are really beautiful.
