Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

Revlon Colorstay Foundation!!!! It won't end up on your gown!!!!

Even the folks at Sephora have agreed with me on Colorstay.

I love Mac. Go to one of the counters in Macy's. Tell them it's for your wedding day, they'll show you how to do everything. And it stays on for hours...

Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

Maybelline Mascara, it's in a pink tube. I have been using it for years (it's always recommended in Magazine's like In Style) plus it is only about $6.00

Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

I like my make-up to look natural so my sister recommded Bobbi Brown. I love them & haven't used anything else but them in 4 years. They have a counter at Bloomingdales in Roosevelt Field.

Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

My mom just recommended MaxFactor Lipfinity lipstick to me. Normally, I cannot use long-wear lipstick because my lips are dry as well but this stuff is great. It stays on all day and there is a moisturizing top-coat that you just keep reapplying to keep you lips from drying out.

Wedding day makeup I swear by...

I did my own makeup for my wedding last year, and I could not have been happier with my choice.

Be careful with drugstore cosmetics - they are sometimes full of oil, and can spoil your pictures.

I used Bobbi Brown foundation - and I didn't even have to pay for it. I went to the Bobbi Brown counter a month before my wedding and got a sample size in my foundation shade. One other Bobbi Brown makeup tip - do not use a cream blush on your wedding day! It is too harsh and difficult to soften/blend. Use a powder blush and be careful not to put it on too heavy.

I also used Lancome's T.Controle Matifier, which is applied under your foundation to prevent shine. This product is a lifesaver! Another must-have is Lancome's Effacernes waterproof undereye concealer (I am olive-skinned and am prone to dark circles under my eyes).

The finishing touch was Lancome's Eternicils waterproof mascara - a must-have on your wedding day!
Best of luck!

mickeya1a,
Do you know what kind of look you're going to try to achieve? Do you have any pics of girls with makeup on that you like?

Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

haven't really looked at pictures. I have very dark brown hair and dark brown eyes....my skin is very tan now, but I expect that at the end of September I will be lighter. I want to stay with a natural look, but a noticeable color on my eyes. I will be going to a makeup counter soon, but i guess I was looking for suggestions of brands people have been happy with.

Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

mickey,
i think that the most important part of your wedding day makeup is the foundation makeup, since it evens your skin tone and covers blemishes. I recommend using a liquid makeup, and setting it with loose powder.
As far as color for your eyes, my best advice is to stick with colors that you normally wear, just apply them a little heavier so it can be seen in photographs.
Also, I am sure that you can get some makeup application tips from the women at the Bobbi Brown counter in Bloomingdales.
Good luck!

Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

I love Stila's Lip Polish!!! (Unfortunately they tend to go fast.)

And Shu Uemura eye shadows are terrific!!! (Kevin Aucoin had a deal with them to manufacture his makeup line before he passed away, so you know they make good stuff!!!)

As for blush, I've heard raves about Nars' Orgasm. I have yet to purchase it, but I'll be paying a visit to Sephora next week so I'll keep you posted.

You may also want to look into a shimmer for your face! They can give a nice glow! (I use Revlon's eyeshadow in Gilded as a shimmer.)

Re: ANy makeup you ladies swear by?

I swear by Maybelline 'full and soft' navyish blackish tube with silver cap. Not even the waterproof. I have cried many of times and that stuff did not come off. People always ask if my lashes are real because they get so long.
