Any Manhattan brides?

I am considering doing a wedding in Manhattan i 2007. Any suggestions? How are the prices?

How big is your party and your budget? It really depends on what you need.

I am hoping to have 150 people at most. I haven't made a budget yet...I really wanted to base my budget on what I see and like.

Hi...thank you! I was wondering if you looked around at different halls? I would surely consider a Manhattan wedding, but I'm not sure how much I would want to spend. Are there any reasoable prices?

Also, do you know anything about the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens...not in Manhattan, but close enough

yes, we looked at a lot of places. i have actually been to a wedding at the brooklyn botanical gardens - it was very nice, but i'm not sure how much it is.

there are some places in nyc that you can get for reasonable prices....some that come to mind are the yale club, the lighthouse at pier 63 (i think that's the name of it), and there are several others....but yes, most places are more expensive than outside the city....if you are planning a reception in the city i think it's safe to say that you should plan on spending at least $50,000.

Hey thanks for the help.

50,000 is doable but I don't want to spend much more than that.

How was the food at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens...my family is Italian and the food is very important to them

hmm...the food didn't stick out to me as bad or good....it was decent....sorry i can't be of more help there.

try looking at bridgewaters near the south street seaport....it wasn't for us, but you may love it....i think they quoted us at like $180 / pp....but it's a cool place that i think will prob work within your budget (once you have one)

What didn't you like about bridgewaters?

Any other places you saw and liked?

Re: Any Manhattan brides?

we didn't like the fact that bridgewaters will do two weddings on the same night at the same time - it wasn't personalized enough for us....I don't want to have to share my day with anyone - lol.

we also looked at the tribeca rooftop and the rainbow room.....i hate the rainbow room - too art deco...ugh...and the tribecca rooftop was just a big loft (although the roofop area is very cool). we also looked at gotham hall, but they wanted a ridiculous amount of $ per person, and we would had to have brought the food in from a catering company....food is very important to our familes as well, and we wanted a venue that cooks their food on-site and is well known for good food.....and that all went into why we chose Capitale.

there is a book called LOCATIONS well, a magazine really. you can find it at barnes and noble. there is also www.weddingsitesandservices.com

that is also a mag.

it has lots of event space and give numbers and prices and some photos to give you a general idea of the place. it's a great resource.

I would love to have a manhattan wedding but I doubt it will fit within our budget.

How much was the tribeca rooftop, if you don't mind me asking?

Another NYC Bride here. I loved Tribeca Rooftop however you have to guarantee 200 people on a Saturday night. With tax and gratutity the price per person was 294. Also lighthouse at Chelsea piers is the same.

try www.bizbash.com

You can also FM me for places. I went to 40 places in NYC before choosing my location.

3 West Club was the cheapest price
Bridgewater was 185 per person (not including tax and gratuity) I loved it however I wanted a more lofty feel.

Not sure of prices, but I know of a few weddings that were great that took place at the following locations:

Check out:

Gotham Hall
Cipriani
The Lighthouse at Chelsea
Candela Restaurant
The Loft@47 West Street
B.E.D (bedny.com)

Good luck
