Any Mommies going to school?

I have decided to go back to school in September, since frank has some concerns about having a baby before we have a house i figure this is the perfect time.. Then he says to me the other night that he wants to start trying when we go on our honeymoon/annivesary trip.. needless to say i was excited more than excited.. but then i started to think about school and i dont want to give that up.. are there any pregnant ladies here who are going to school? if so how is it? and are there any mommies who go to school and have infants at home??

thank you for any advise you can give me!

Would you be going to school and working full time? I think it depends on the individual and how your pregnancy goes. Personally, I am only able to handle working 9-5 right now. I was taking classes at night along with a full time job for 3 years and couldn't imagine doing that while pg. Sometimes I have to go to bed by 9pm and I'd rather read pg books than school books!

My friend is pg right now and is in grad school for OT taking 9 credits and she works part time. I had a friend when I was doing my Master's who was pg, working full time and in her last semester. Since she gave birth half way through the semester, she took incompletes.

Would you be commuting a long distance for school or work, that would make a difference too.

I would work fulltime and go to school at night until after the baby was born. then i would come up with other options.. work is 10 minutes from my home, and school is 3 minutes from work, closer to home..maybe i will be able to do it at least for a semester..

Ooops, I just realized you meant going to school after the baby is born too. I think it can be done, and it sounds like you will have the support too. Not having a long commute helps a lot.

Anna is in school right now, I'm sure she can tell you more.

For what it is worth: I think you should start school before TTC and see how much work it is. You can then better judge for yourself when the best time to TTC would be. Also, you may want to try to time your pregnancy so you have the baby over a summer instead of mid-semester.
For me, I cannot imagine working and going to school while pregnant. I am so tired after working a full day that sometimes I just go home and sleep for a few hours.
You also do not want to try looking for a new job with an infant since that may cause you a lot of stress. Why not go to school for a year, then see how you feel about TTC?
When you write 'I don't want to give that up' it says to me that you are probably not ready to TTC just yet, and there is NOTHING wrong with that! YOu need to live out some of your dreams first.

During my pregnancy, I worked full time (teaching) as well as attended graduate school at night...it was hard, but I am glad I did it...I'm graduating with my Master's next weekend!!!!!!!!!
I would advise you to only take one or two classes at a time. Good luck!

Re: Any Mommies going to school?

I say planning life step by step never works. Just do what you feel at the moment and everything else will fall into place.

I looked INTO school while I was prego. I started this semester, since I gave birth in Oct. (and had to miss the fall semester, LOL).. Im not working right now, so its not as hard as if I was working.
Im taking one class this semester, just to get an idea of the workload, and then im taking 2 classes this summer, and 2 in the Fall, and so on...
Eventually I will have to student teach, and eventually get a job. The only thing I have somewhat 'planned' is that my MIL will be available to me to babysit 3 full days as of Sept 04. (Which still doesnt 'solve' everything), but until then, I am taking classes, and continuing with my degree... I eventually plan to have more children, but I dont plan to stop things or delay things because or one thing or another.. OK I just confused myself

I kinda live by the 'we'll cross that bridge when we get to it'
If things dont go 'as planned' , well then, we'll revise and go by Plan B.

Things work out. If you want to go to school go to school. If you want a baby, take classes in the evenings or weekends. ITs ALL possible, its just up to you !
