Any mom's/TTCers with thyroid problem have/had problems conceiving?

Sorry if this is too personal, if you have any comments on my question and rather FM me that is fine. I'm just curious because I am hypothyroid and concerned I may have problems when we are ready to TTC. I've read that I may come across problems.

Anyone?

My Dr. told me that I can continue the synthroid and if I stop meds I may cause problems, but I SHOULD be able to conceive and carry out a nice healthy pregnancy, however, I just hate that SHOULD word and thought I could get some thoughts from someone with firsthand experience, ya know?

ME! I have an almost 100% underactive thyroid - i take tons of levoxyl to regulate it - I basically make none on my own....as long as you CONTINUE TO TAKE YOUR MEDS RELIGIOUSLY you will be fine. You will take it thru pregnancy, BFing and so on.

I had no problems and have a severe thyroid condition

Thank you so much for responding! Makes me feel much better. I know my doc told me I would continue my meds throughout pregnancy, but that made me nervous! Glad to hear all was well with you!

I had to have my thyroid removed and one of my first questions was having a baby. They said it is not generally a problem, but they will closely monitor my levels and if necessary increase the Synthroid. The only thing the dr. said was that I'd have to continue Synthroid to avoid miscarriage, but it might be different because I don't have a thyroid at all.

My doctor said that problems occur when people STOP taking synthroid/levoxyl, etc. So as long as you continue taking them as prescribed, you should be fine.
