I have an appt tomorrow, which is the first appt after the sonogram we had done a few weeks ago. We were told we would probably hear the heartbeat tomorrow. My question is, what else will they be doing? Are there any more internal exams once you are pregnant, or is it the typical urine and blood sample, etc? Just curious. Thanks.

Everytime I go, they just check my blood pressure and weigh me. They also measure my belly.

You have awhile to go, but I'm pretty sure they start during internals again around 32 weeks or so...or somewhere in the 30something mark, to see how your progressing in terms of dilating, effacing, etc.,

from what i reemmeber after @ 30-32 weeks they start doing internals every appointment and appointments are made for every 1-2 weeks until baby comes

They will check the heartbeat with a doptone so no internal exam is necessary. You will not get another internal until at least 36 weeks woth most dr's unless you have bleeding or suspect leaking fluid. If they do bloodwork in the office then you will only need that done if there is a specific test you need for that week (e.g. AFP around 15-18 weeks). Otherwise you will be given a script to go to the lab for all bloodwork.

According to what I've experienced, ditto on Victoria's post. No internals until at least 36 weeks. One of my doctors does not believe in them unless there is something to with your pregnancy I would hope they don't do an exam any earlier or every week as someone mentioned. Next time you go, your doctor should explain the next month's visits to come.

blood and uring...measure the belly...your bllod pressure, etc.
My dr did not believe in internals....I had to ASK for one at 41 weeks!
beleive me once you have one, you realize that you wish you didnt!
