I grew up in the town over and my family is all from hauppague. It's a very nice area. nice schools and what not. Some of hauppauge goes to smithtown schools, too. Overall, just a good, safe area. Do you have specific questions?

I like Hauppauge. It has great access to the LIE and Northern State. I also like it because it is perfectly in the middle. Not to far from Smithtown and the North Shore and not far from the Southern State and Sunrise Highway.

The only problem I know with Hauppauge, is that the School board was trying to reopen a school that was previously closed because of dangerous levels of something. The Admin. Offices are there now I believe and they want to reopen the school and the public was going nuts. I don't know what happened in the end but I think the school was very close to the dump on Blydenburg and that MIGHT have been part of the problem.

it's a really nice area.
the only problem i have with hauppague is that i interviewed for a teaching position in their district and they turned me down....so i'm a little bitter.

I love it. One of my top choices of places to live in Suffolk. I live in Nassau now but work at a company close to Hauppauge. I think the area is lovely, close to everything, and very quiet and SAFE!

Very nice area my to be sister in law lives there. She loves it. Its a great place to raise a family.

Just wanted to add that they are NOT opening the Whiporwhil school that was under debate. The community turned it down.

i went to junior high there and it was cool. my only beef was that you are so far from everything. I'm a nassau girl:)

Its a great area, and taxes are low because of all the commercial/industrial areas.
