Any other 06 brides have this problem?

I was so excited when I got engaged back in June. I started planning everything, I mean I went to 20 different halls on LI and almost bought a dress. Now I just got bored with it all. I feel as if it is so far away. I have only booked the church and I need to book the hall. Anyone else feel this way? I wish I could book everything now, and believe me I researched enough to do this!

My mom is procrastinating and FH just don't have the $1000 to put down at the moment. I guess I have to keep bugging my mom.

At least you are ready to roll...deciding was the hardest part for us. Even when we thought we decided, I changed my mind

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

I was feeling the same thing too. We got engaged this past July. I started looking at halls even before we were officially engaged. We narrowed it down and booked the hall. Actually, we booked the church after being engaged for only 3 days! Then I wanted to go out and book everything else. But I was afraid, so I decided to put the planning on hold, temporarily. Then I realized (a day or two ago) that our wedding is 1 yr and 7 mos away!! That's not that far off. I am not worried, but now I am mentally ready to start intervieing other vendors. Our engagement party is 5 months away, so I have set that as my 'goal' to start booking vendors and dress shopping.

I agree with you, but as other have told me, time is (and will keep on) flying. Especially around the holidays. This time of year goes SO fast to me.

As I told Gina675 (also an '06 bride, she's Nov), before we know it, it'll be January, then spring, then summer, then fall, then holidays again, then it'll be 2006! And we'll all be getting married!!!

Good Luck. I figure I am taking advantage of this time to get all the 'little things' out of the way, so it's not 2 weeks before the wedding and I 'still need to do favors'.

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

I aree that there are lulls in plannng...but I think it is because there is so much time.

FH and I got engaged 5/03...a loooong time ago!! So far things have gone step by step. We planned an e-party first off and had that last October. We knew we wouldn't be able to afford any deposit without a cushion in the bank and the e-party helped tremendously. So we had our e-party 10/03 and 3 weeks later (11/2/03) we booked the hall. I chilled out over last years holidays and then in Feb/March we started researching & interviewing vendors. By the end of March I had booked the photographer, videographer, DJ & Florist.

Than I took another break over the summer (I hate to do anythng in the heat & I concentrated on my new job). Over both of the breaks I gave myself I worked on hings lie the menus, programs, unity candles, rice packets, ring pillow, garters, save the dates and baskets for the rice & programs. Last month we arranged the church and soon we will book limos. Then after the holidays I am going to start with things like my gown, hair, makeup, BM dresse, BP gifts, inivitaions and registering. I am guessing once I hit the 1 year mark things will start to pick up.

I am pretty good at planning & I am very organized. I want to get as much done as early as possible so nothing sneaks up on me. I know I probably hav much more done than most but I try to think of it as though I am getting married the end of 2005. Although the date is technically 2006 I don't really have time to plan in 06 so I am banging things out as early as possible!

Good luck!!!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

Word of advice- do everything early. DH and I had a 2 year engagement and glad we did a lot of the booking early. We got the best prices and were very relaxed leading up to the wedding- just a few last minute things to do. It will be here before you know it. Good look to all of the 2006'ers and congrats again!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

We were engaged 4/04 & had the church booked within a week of that...We looked at every hall there as on LI & just could not make a decision....We finally booked Floral Terrace on 7/24...We pretty much know everything else that we need....I took a break for sometime...I started dress shopping with my MOH & mom in September & by 10/27 we had all the dresses picked out...We ordered them on 11/3 just out of fear that the dresses we absolutely loved would get discontinued....11/4 we booked our photographer....Now I still have to get in touch with Pedestals to book & also do the limos...The only thing that we still have not decided on was the dj or band....We are going to do the rest of our planning after the holidays..

I have found though that the planning gets very repetitive but i think that in my case it was due to the fact that I had everything planned out before we got engaged....I know that once 2005 hits, things will move along & before you know it, I will be married! SO just hang in there & remember that we all go through our lulls! Just try to book as soon as possible though so you can get the vendors you want & the prices you want!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

when we first got engaged, nov 2003 - i wanted to do everything right away. i mean everything. and it was frustrating cause we had no money saved, so we couldn't leave deposits for anything. so we waited and we booked the church in april then we booked the hall in august. then in september, we booked our photographer/video and our limos.

people are very surprised when we tell them how much we have done. we get the typical response 'why so early? you have soo much time.' um, no we don't. we are waiting on everything else until after my sisters wedding in august. then we will finish all we need to, and not have to stress about the small details nest year.

don't worry, just go at your own pace. i did kind of feel like i wanted to get married in 2005 rather then 2006, but we just coulndn't, for financial reasons. but its 2005 in less then 2 months, so before long.......its heeeeeeeerrrrreeee.

good luck!!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

Let me tell ya. I am getting married in 06 too and i am having fun planning. I booked the hall so far and that's it. The best thing about it is that i have so much time to see so many vendors and look for what i really want. You know get down to the nitty gritty of thangs. Take it one step at a time. Just look around for things you like. Write things down, print out pics of invitations, centerpieces that you like on the internet. Trust me its a lot of fun. But dont do everything in one month which of course takes all the fun out of it.

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

I'm an 06er too. So far I've done my hall (ceremony is there) and I'm almost done with looking at photo/video and then on to band/djs. If you can book vendors early (but watch for price increases in contract) so that you get the best deal. Vendors prices always go up so if you can book 04 or 05 pricing you are definitely going to save yourself $$$.

Good luck and happy planning!

I'm still getting over the excitement of booking the hall and church! I actually like having some time to book everything. I am antsy to start looking at dresses though!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

We rushed right away to book the hall so that we could get exactly what we wanted; you really should do your best to scrape together the cash you need for that. After that, you really can take it easy. We've been engaged since August, and we're doing one thing per month: September it was the band, we took October off, now we've almost booked the photographer.

It's ok to be bored with planning! We don't even think about the wedding for weeks at a time. If you were consumed with wedding planning for over a year, I would worry that the rest of your life isn't fulfilling enough!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

I have to agree with all the other 2006 brides. We got engaged in june of this year and we booked our hall and church in July. We also got done all of the main vendors throughout the summer and september: photographer, videographer, band, and even limos!!! believe it or not there was almost a conflict w/ the band we really wanted, but since it was so far in advance, we were able to work it out w/ them and book it. We had so much time, but i figured why not get everything we want and not have to worry about things being booked. Also, I started graduate school for my masters in nursing in september, so i could not imagine where i would have fit in 'vendor shopping!!!' And then by waiting, we take the chance of things being booked already!
I have learned to ignore anyone who says, 'why so early???' or 'why is the wedding so far away' I think all of us 2006ers have this in common! But truthfully, after the holidays, it is a year and a half till the wedding! Just do things at your own pace, not too fast and not too slow. You have the opportunity to save up for what you want and get the things you really want.
Have fun!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

Well, I got engaged In Feb and didnt book the hall until Sept....so that was a big break in between. I havent done anything else from that point on but I feel its because I dont have the proper funds to be fully finished with it all.
So, the waiting sucks and im bored with the fact that I cant do anything. Plus, I took another job to help us out and with the holidays around the corner.....just been tough. As we all know the time will fly and before we know our day will be here. Our boredom will soon be gone!

I'm in the same boat. I felt so accomplished when I got the church and hall booked a few weeks ago. I have too many FIL's coming in for the holidays, so I won't even have time to think about anything else until January anyway. Then, I figure I can attack a vendor every 2 months or so - then I'll have the money for deposits and such - and I can manintain some activity so I don't get overwhelmed (or bored).

Good luck to everyone!

Re: Any other 06 brides have this problem?

I booked the hall & church within 2 weeks of getting engaged on 09/06/04. I took a break for a couple of months b/c I started a brand new job in the schools & I was exhausted!

We are actually looking at our first photographer tonight. As well as 4 others over the next few weeks. Just remember, if you know you want a particular vendor, book early to alleviate any conflicts & you are guaranteed 2004 prices!

The DJ we will do after the holidays. Then we will break until the summer and then do limos & flowers.

I am 2 weeks after you (July 14, 2006) & everyone keeps telling me, 'It'll be here before you know it' but I still don't believe it!

Book what you can now. You still have some time to come up with some money, but if you could have your mom help now, even better. I got the hall, got the dress, and that's all I am doing really until the summer. Those 2 things were the things that I was really passionate about getting, so I got it early to reserve prices and dates. We need to do some fun wedding stuff..that'll get you back into the mood!
