Any other brides planning a NY wedding from another state?
Ok, so the only crazy thing about moving to Philly is that we are going in April, which will be 5 months from the wedding.
How have you girls found it, planning from a different state?
I have most of my important stuff done already-- my dress, videographer, photographer, rabbi, reverend. There's a BM dress that I absolutely love, but I want to do a full day of shopping with my girls before we settle on that dress. Then I'll have to do flowers, invitations, music... Ahhhh, I'm getting stressed out just thinking about it.

I am planning from out of state and it can be very stressful!
I make a lot of weekend trips down to NY...most vendors I have spoken to have been great with meeting me on the weekends and working with me.
It is not an ideal situation, but it can definitely be done!

I'm planning from virginia... We're just doing most of the stuff while home on breaks.
It hasn't been too bad so far, there are lots of things that you can do from where you are - like plan your honeymoon, do invites, etc. Between this website, and other internet sites, it has been a lot eaiser than expected.
I fortunatly also know that I'll be on LI a few months before the wedding, when I can get a lot of the details done.
Planning a wedding is never easy, and being a distance away from everything doesn't make it any better, but it is feasible. Just plan a few long weekends home and you should be fine - and Philidelphia isn't too far, so you can easily come home for the weekend if neccessary.

i plan from Boston - its not too hard -do a lot of emailing and getting quotes over the phone to narrow down then meet a few vendors on a long weekend home

I am planning from VA too, and my dad and my sister/MOH has been a big help

It really hasn't been bad at all, I'm also planning from VA. My mom has been a great help but most of the vendors, I've narrowed down from these boards, go up on one weekend to do everything at once. Not too bad at all!

I'm the furthest away in CA. If I can plan from here, it definately can get done. I plan on going back East in April to have meetings with some of my vendors to clarify some issues- photographer, band, banquet manager and to have another makeup trial. Most of my research was done on the net. Invitations can be done from anywhere! It will all work out.

If it wasn't for this site and the Internet in general, I would say it would be very hard. But you should not have much trouble. I live in MD and fly home to LI once every 4-6 weeks to do my 'wedding blitz weekends.' I schedule lots of appointments and make a list of To Dos and I have always gotten a lot done that way. You already have many vendors, so you are in good shape.
I imagine I will be coming to LI more frequently in March-April for fittings and bridal shower, etc.

I'm planning from IL (chicago). I really feel as if I'm missing out on the planning. I don't have time to go to NY. Stuff like going dress shopping with my mom to find her dress, I can't do. Even my makeup trials. I'm basically letting my sister (MOH) do the trials. I'm goingto book whoever does it best on her and then get a trial done next time I'm in NY (April, May??)

i have done it from MD and it isnt so bad at all..i just find that i only give myself like 3 choices on things like photogs etc. i picked my invites here but ordered them there...and there is always LIW!!!

I am planning from Maryland. It can be a little stressful but I have a good support group. The internet is a big help. I also got a wedding coordinater and that has been a god send. You can do, just take it one day at a time.

I am planning from NC and it is alittle difficult but not bad. My godmother is helping a lot which makes it better. My FH and I are going up for Easter and are trying to cram as much in as possible. My mom doesn't understand why we need to come up a week before the wedding!! DUH!!!!!

Planning from VA as well. Honestly it hasn't been too bad...on the trips to NY we are crazy busy with back to back stuff to do but we can't stress over decisions. I have a feeling if we were in NY we would check out MORE vendors, etc. and thank goodness for the internet and family. It has been pretty smooth. I think the hardest time will be right before the wedding only going up a week before and taking care of lots minute things...the key is planning. I finished my favors last week (wedding is JUly), trying to do everything ahead of time if possible! Good Luck. Jean
