Any other NYPD brides to be out there who can't stand insensitive/stupid comments!?

I've heard everything from 'I can't believe you are marrying a cop ....aren't you worried?' or 'isn't it hard?' And ok, I've gotten used to that.

But the worst came the other day with the tragic story of the murder / suicide when a coworker had the nerve to say to me 'see, you should watch out w/ your fi carrying a gun!'

HELLO!?!? WHO SAYS THIS??

Anyone else have this kind of experience? What is wrong with some people?!

I am with you...FH is going into the academy this summer. Like it is not always in the back of my mind how dangerous a job he will have they have to keep reminding me?! People are just idiots!
No one has said anything to me about that story...thank goodness.

I experienced this while dating my DH, but hes a firefighter.

I get this all the also....but now when some one ask's me...'are you sure you want to marry a cop?'...I say...

why not...you married a loser, idiot, drunk, fool...what ever fits.

OMG, I can't believe someone said that. I for one applaud your FH for the good job they do every day.

I didnt marry a cop but I just wanted to give to you all who did/will. Hello! You cant help who you fall in love with!

the odd thing is the only time i heard people ask me if i was sure i wanted to marry a cop was from other cops. i wasnt asked that once by anyone else.
