I feel like I don't want to go to my own wedding. I'm afraid no one will dance and that I'll be completely embarrassed because everyone will be bored. We were supposed to have 100 - 150 guests, but the lovely military decided to do things differently this summer and many of our guests are being sent to training early or being deployed. So now we about 60 -70. I feel like that's too small and that everyone will just stare at each other.
Sorry I'm so negative

Re: Any past brides feel like this?
Try not to stress about it. I purposely had a small wedding (appx. 60 people) and had no dancing (not our thing) and people had a great time mingling and talking. We did have some awesome jazz playing for background noise but that's about it.

I know how you feel. We're having a small wedding as well (40-50 max). 90% are older family members. Plus my family doesn’t really know FH family......
I'm mortified

I feel like I want a back up plan, so if everyone if bored we can either cut it short or do something else. I was thinking about haivng a cigar roller to entertain people for a little while, but I have a hard time justifying the cost for such a small wedding.

OMG- I thought I was the only one feeling like this. We are having a small wedding also 60-70 people and most of the guest are older. I am also so afraid noone will dance. I am also afraid people arent going to show. FH side is getting smaller by the minute (people are either dying or going into nursing homes). I am stressing if we are going to make our 60 minimum

Don't worry--- nerves are normal-- but you're not going to think about those things on your wedding day-- you're going to be totally euphoric... I wish I could describe the feeling that you'll have-- but nothing except for your husband is going to matter! AND all of your guests will notice.... and see you up there dancing and in love.... and they will dance too.
If they don't-- you're not going to notice!! I know you THINK you're going to notice everything-- but you're not going to- you're going to be floating on a cloud!!
You'll dance the night away and probably not remember whether one person danced with you until you see your pictures!!
It's going to be an amazing day, no matter how many people are there.
As for adding something.... don't think of it as additional cost for a wedding so small--- it's YOUR wedding. You do it ONE TIME!! (hopefully!) And while a few hundred dollars may seem like a big deal to you today- trust me, a month after your wedding you'll say that you would have spent twice as much to have such a perfect day!
It's your one day- so if you want a cigar roller, go for it!!!
You'll be ok-- I promise!!!! Read the reviews if you don't believe me.... almost every single bride says at some point that it was the most amazing day of their lives-- and yes, teeny things may not go perfectly-- but big picture wise- it will be the most amazing day ever!!

Re: Any past brides feel like this?
I only had 40.....and invited 120! I was crying everyday the month before...on my mom's side not a single relative came because of a graduation the week before.
It was fine...aok...we didn't meet our minimum...and had an empty table but people say it was the best wedding ever.

everybody has these fears, small or large wedding. I had 270 guests and worried about everyone having fun and everyone dancing, its only normal.
Remember you start off the night and set the atmosphere and your happiness and joy will shine that day. After first dance when music starts, just get on that dance floor right away along with bp and close family and i guarantee everyone will follow and have a great time

Re: Any past brides feel like this?
You are going to have an AMAZING time at your wedding!!! Being surrounded by friends and family -- as many of the people in the world who love you and FH who are able to come be with you will be all around you! The feeling in the room will be overwhelmingly lovely.
Think about it this way: when you and FH are together, you have lots to talk about, you feel good, and you know that things are right in the world.
Now add 60-70 more people who know you and care about you to the room! These are people who are so happy to be near you celebrating this special moment! They want to know all about your wants, needs, hopes, and dreams together in the life you and FH are starting!
There will be *plenty* to talk about, and lots of smiling, and dancing! Sharing time with people who matter is the most important thing you can do in your life!
It's easy to worry and be scared about the wedding, and no one would say there's anything wrong with you for your apprehension. But you'll see as you get closer and start focusing on the positive -- it will be one of the greatest days of your life, not only because of all the doors it opens to the future, but because of how special you and the people you choose to love in the world are.
Feel better!!!!!

Don't worry, you're going to have so much fun that day!! We thought we were going to have about 120 people, but ended up with about 75. It felt and looked like there were so many people there. One of my friends later told me that her dad asked how big our wedding was and she told him 200! When I told her it was only 75, she was like 'really? It seemed like there were so many people there!' Enjoy these last few weeks, it will be a beautiful day!

Its gonna be ok!
You make sure to have great music. You make sure to meet with the DJ so he can keep the party moving! YOU have a good time and get up and dance.
You will have a great time, dont you worry!

I think everyone at some point will probably worry about this. And I don't think that you should at all. Remember, everyone wants to have fun when they go to a wedding just as much as you want them to have fun. There will be a great vibe going, and you'll have a blast :)

Re: Any past brides feel like this?
Im not sure if you would be interested but i was nervous for our e party that no one would dance and everyone would be just sitting still, so we got our dj to do kareoke and it was such a hit, people i wouldnt of thought would sing did and it just broke the ice for mingling.

Re: Any past brides feel like this?
We had 70 out of 100 guests for our wedding due to family members who reside in Europe/Hawaii/friends who could not make it. Everyone had an amazing time! I was worried myself that the older people at our wedding particularly the elderly would not enjoy themselves. They surprised me by joining in some of the dances and laughed the whole night. I was told later at the end of the reception that they had so much fun and it was a beautiful wedding. It's normal to feel nervous b/c it gets really hectic and there is so much going on. Your wedding day will be beautiful, I promise you that, and you'll have so much fun and enjoy every moment of it that your nerves will start to relax! Enjoy the wedding planning. Remember, it's your moment to shine on your big day, cherish every second b/c the day will go by very quickly. I didn't expect the day to end so quick but time flies. Best of luck & wishes on your big day!
