Any pointers on trying on dresses!

I am going to try on dresses for the first time tomorrow. Does anyone have any advise.
What to wear, what to ask and remember?

one more thing. i might be a little dense at this but can someone explain all the abreviations that you guys use on this site. i get some of them but dont understand most. sorry.

Wear nice makeup and have your hair done up a little...just to get the feeling of what you'll look like. Bring a clip...wear clean underwear (no thongs) Those ladies get in the dressing room with you. Wear a strapless bra. And finally try on things you think you wouldn't like...you never know.

I was going to say the same things that Hugs said so I'll just add to that. Try on all different shades of white as well: diamond white, ivory, etc. You may be surprised at which shades you look better in. Have fun!

Also, you can bring pictures of dresses that you like with you to give your salesperson an idea of what you like. (But, as the other ladies said, definitely try on all different styles - you could end up falling in love with something completely different than what you originally wanted!)

Be open to everything

Be firm with your price range
Strapless Bra & Clean undies are a must:D

Bring a pair of heels - I always feel more dressy with high heels on.

Wear clothes easy to get in and out of and would recommend a button down shirt that's real fast to slip on and off.

Bring a camera and sneak pics if the consultants won't let you take pics so you can show us here

Bring clips or something to put your hair up with to see how it looks with the gown.

Definately....try everything on...even if you don't think you will like it. I was very adament that I did not want a strapless dress...would even try them on. Eventually...after running out of things I liked...I tried on strapless...and wouldn't you know it...I loved the first one I tried on...and bought it!

Heed the underwear advice! I was prepared with a notebook, pen, pics of dresses I liked, hairclip, strapless bra BUT didn't consider that the Victoria's Secret leopard print low-rise thongs might be an issue until I came out of the dressing room with my butt cheeks and crack exposed My MOH, mother and grandmother were making fun of me the whole time. My consultant was so cool she commented that at least I was wearing underwear....she had seen it ALL (no pun intended)!

don't wear any jewlery.. other than your ring and have fun.

the BEST advice I could give you is try on DIF types of gowns inc, ones that the consult. picks out..
