Christies is way too overpriced. I go to Jeanne at International Haircutters in Fresh Meadows. Valerie is great too. I love to use Jeanne for my color and Val for my cuts.

I have been going there for over 10 years. Their prices are reasonable. I tried Christies once and hated how my hair looked.

for my hair - thin and its considered 'long' (a little passed my shoulder blade) at Christies it was almost $50

Hair on 14th Ave charges about $35-40

Not that big of a difference but their service is much better at hair on 14th

I've been going to Christies since it opened in the Bay Terrace shopping center. They have different levels of haircutters with different prices according to seniority/experience. A haircut with a senior/pro is $ 41.50. The only time you'll pay 50 bucks is if they have a 'featured stylist' who's a somebody in the beauty business. For example they used to have this guy from Vidal Sasoon for a while.
If you follow their calendar you can make an appointment on a day that a haircut & styling is 20% off like this coming Saturday, that should save you a few bucks. Check out the website for more info.
Also, they ONLY use top notch shampoo/conditioner/sprays/gels etc. Once I went to a salon,on 14th ave for a quick blowout and the chick tried to wash my hair in WHITERAIN shampoo...not that theres anything wrong with that brand but in a salon I expect salon products.

True,Christies can be a little 'snooty' to the once in a while client but I'm there at least once a week and get nothing but the royal treatment. Wouldn't trade them for anything!

If you don't mind traveling to Douglaston you can check out Joe at Ronique Salon on Douglaston Pkwy. He charges $40 for a cut/blow dry and I have long/pretty thick hair. I have gotten some of my best hair cuts from him.

Ahh.. I live across the street from Ronique. Got a great haircut there. Here name was Tatiana. I've also tried Christies', girl did an awful job. Took her no joke two minutes to cut my hair....next...didn't even dry it. Just wanted to move on to her next client. never again.
