Any teachers out there?

I was wondering are you inviting your principal? I'm not sure if I should or not. Does anyone know what is proper and what isn't?

Thanks!!

Re: Any teachers out there?

I think it depends on your relationship with them. I f you are somewhat close with them you should invite them. I invited a lot of people from my job but there was no way, come hell or high water I was inviting my principal. She is new this year and has done nothing but make my life at school unbearable. She gave me problems two days before I left for my wedding!!! Its up to you and how well you know her/him and how well you get along with them.

Re: Any teachers out there?

I think it depends n your relationship and the size of your building. I work in a huge high school (250 teachers, 4 APs, and 1 principal, of course). In a situation like mine, I think if there is a 'boss' I feel obligated to invite, it is my department chairperson. I have a good relationship with my principal, so I will invite him also, but I don't feel obligated to. so difficult!!!

PS -- I teach at Sachem, where do you teach?

Re: Any teachers out there?

Hey teachers, Who wants to get me a job for Sept? LOL!

I'm going crazy sending out resumes and the only response I've gotten so far is from Locust Valley to come in for a group SUBSTITUTE interview! Whaa! I will be certified in May and have my masters in June.

Any recommendations? (Sorry NWR!)

Re: Any teachers out there?

Thanks everyone for the advice!!

Matron, What are you certified in? Elementary or Secondary? The best advice that I can give you is that if you can't find a full time teaching job for next year take a perm. sub position, or a TA position in a district that you would like to teach in. If you do that you will be in the system already for when they are looking for more teachers!! I know that a lot of teachers her on Long Island are getting ready to retire!

Best of Luck!!

Re: Any teachers out there?

I know, I know. It would just be so nice to land a permanent position right away, but I'm in dreamland. I left my marketing position in the city to pursue my masters in eled. I taught in pre-k and was a TA for the Brentwood School District until I started student teaching FT. I'd be willing to take a perm-sub position but haven't seen anything advertised yet. I hope everyone retires! LOL! Anything special i should put on my resume to make it stand out? Think it's bad ettiquette to send updated resumes out only a few short months after i sent the first round? i'm getting antsy!

Re: Any teachers out there?

Well, if it makes you feel any better..I sent my resume out in Jan. and did not get a call for an interview until March! Sometimes it takes a lot of time to go through everything!! Best of Luck!! I know a lot of people who got a job at the end of the summer!! You have a lot of time left!!

Re: Any teachers out there?

i think about that question alot. in my school, you dont even say good morning to the administration so i dont think that i would ask them. i would think that they would feel like it was tacky- like i was asking for a gift or something
