ANY TECHIES ON THE BOARD??
I am a spaz I know it!I forgot my password to log in to my pc. I have Win2000 professional and after 4 attempts I am locked out of my computer. I didn't create a start up disk b/c I got 2000 illegally. And I forgot!
Thankfully the pc is fairly new so if I MUST repartition the hard drive I will. Yes even more of a spaz since I haven't backed up my hard drive.
Don't ask why I didn't do what I was supposed to do. You would think I would learn after taking a couple of pc technician classes!

Re: ANY TECHIES ON THE BOARD??
If I remember correctly, there is no way to avoid having to put in a pw to login to Win2K.
I'll try to ask my FH. He would know. Good Luck with it!!

Re: ANY TECHIES ON THE BOARD??
There is a linux boot disk that can handle this for you. Do a search on hotbot.com. You will need to know a bit about UNIX though.

Re: ANY TECHIES ON THE BOARD??
Thanks everyone.I don't know anything about UNIX. But I know someone that does. I am ready to give up and start all over again...
I am giving it till this weekend to see if I have any alternative. If not I will end up with bad 98ME on my pc!

Re: ANY TECHIES ON THE BOARD??
Just a thought. We just had an experience with a client that didn't update their password when prompted to do so. The system defaulted to NO password. Don't know if this is your case or not but try using no password and see if that gets you in.

Re: ANY TECHIES ON THE BOARD??
One time I shut down b/c I was going on vacation, when I came back and turned it on, it was doing the same thing, and I couldn't get out of it. I tried everything, until I did exactly what LIWeddings just said, I tabbed past it and just entered, and it let me in w/NO password.Good Luck

Re: ANY TECHIES ON THE BOARD??
I tried what you said LIWeddings. Didn't work
So I caved and reinstalled 98ME. Not happy but at least my computer is functioning. This time, I copied down my password and am creating passwords for my sister who is the reason why I changed my password in the first place. At least now I can spend MORE time on this board!
