Re: Any Thatched Cottage Brides out there....
We were invited for a tasting before we even booked the place but they didn't serve anthing but cocktail hour food which is already included *not something we have to choose). I don't think we get a tasting...?
Marcella, how was everything? Did you have a good time? I don't have the menu in front of me so I'll get back to you on my choices.

Re: Any Thatched Cottage Brides out there....
Glad to hear you had a good time. Right now, (hopefully) we'll have an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour downstairs and the reception in the first floor room. But our guest list grows larger every day and if we go over 160 (which could happen any time now) it will start to get tight in there and we'll have to move downstairs for the reception. We'll see what happens once we start getting replies.

Re: Any Thatched Cottage Brides out there....
We had our tasting there after we booked it. They serve everything in small appetizer portions, but you do get some of the dinner food. We ended up picking a chicken w/spinache & cheese- I can't remember what its called- but we actually did have that at the tasting. We also picked the Salmon in the puff pastry (again- don't recall the name of the dish) and the blue ribbon shell of beef. Everything was delicious at the wedding itself. I had the chicken, DH had the beef, tried my chicken, & had half of the fish when they offered us seconds. And the jerk is still a 32 in. waist...we think he has a tape worm! I would say go to the tasting regardless!

Yea, I was thinking the salmon dish just b/c it sounds interesting but I want to taste it before I pick it. Did any of your guests comment on any one of your choices more than others?

Re: Any Thatched Cottage Brides out there....
I actually do remember people complimenting the salmon. Although anyone I asked in particular said whatever they had was good. But everyone absolutely raved about the cocktail hour food. There was just so much of it! My husband still raves about the sesame chicken at the wok station when we are watching the video and the cocktail hour is shown!

They have such a huge selection of cocktail food and it's almost all included. I can't wait to try it all.

Amyd, I remember you telling me you had an all chocolate cake, well I brough a pic of a cake I want them to make and Bob pulls out the exact same pic...all dark chocolate, saying they all ready made it once before. I think maybe it was your cake....?

Re: Any Thatched Cottage Brides out there....
I think it is my cake!! They kept the actual picture I had cut out of a magazine...they gave me back a photocopy. The way you had described the one you want (mosaic tile-like) is what mine was too! How funny is that? I'm going to visit my parents on LI this weekend and they have a scanner so I will scan some pics of the cake for you. It didn't come out exactly like the picture in the magazine, but I still think they did a great job.

That's it! LOL, how funny! I've asked if they can make it square stacks instead of round and if the can make the outside white chocolate. I'm waiting for Bob to get back to me and let me know how much $$$$
I'd love to see pics!
