Can you recommend treatments or doctors? I wear a night brace and it just isn't enough.
Thank you.

Re: Any TMJ sufferers out there?
CHIROPRACTOR!
Works wonders. I have a chiropractor who uses the activator method and it has worked WONDERS for my TMJ. When I go regularly, I don't have any TMJ symptoms at all

Can you tell me more about this method? I see a chiropractor I want to tell him about it.
Thanks.

Re: Any TMJ sufferers out there?
Well, activator method is a whole school of chiropractic. Certains doctors just do activator and some do the normal way. Activator is with a little instrument, where instead of using their ahnds to crach your back, etc, they cna use this instrument, to just tap you in the right places for a more precise adjustment. It's supposedly safer and less painful. I've never had it the other way, so I don't know. I don't know if you'd get the same results from a regular chiropractor.

How did you find this chiropractor? Mine uses the normal methods. I am going to talk to him about this on Friday. Where is your chiopractor located? I wonder how I could find one who practices the activator method near me, I live in Lynbrook.

Re: Any TMJ sufferers out there?
MaryMoon, I just called my chiro. They also do the activator method, I have had it done, just didnt' realize. Mostly I get the normal method. They said if I don't respond to the normal way on my jaw they will do the activator.
Thanks for the tip.
If anyone else has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Mine is in Howard Beach. If you look up Activator on the wbe, they have an association and you cna find others, or I can give you the # to mine and you can call and ask for a reccomendation. Your chiropractor may be able to help you as well

Have you tried massage? Facial massage specifically on the TMJ region can work wonders, I have clients that have been coming to me for years that swear by it. It really helps to release the muscles surrounding the joint, therefore causing less facial pain & headaches. And it feels good too!

Cool, Karen! Now you can try both! I hope it works for you. If not, I agree with angela, massage is great. Acupuncture is also great, although I haven't had it for TMJ, but for other things
