Anybody do the wax seals for the back of the envelopes?

I saw them at my invitation store and I love the idea. Is it hard to do? Im afraid to mess up all my invites

I was thinking of doing them also, but afraid I would make a mess. Another option is to use the stickers. You can get monogramed ones or just a simple design.

I did it for my STD's. It's not hard at all! Make sure you get synthetic (mailable) wax because the other cracks and won't reach its destination. Also, get one of those lamp things that stand up (they sell them) they're small and are just for that - because holding a lighter or a match in one hand and holding wax while holding down the envelope flap with the other can get complicated...

It's worth the hassle - mine looked beautiful. I got all the supplies at Kate's Paperie.

Use colored glue and a glue gun with a brass seal - it looks gorgeous and is alot easier than melting with a candle.

I'm using monogrammed stickers. Just beware of wax seals, it can be break during mailing since they go through a machine that makes the mail flat (I think).

I also heard that using a wax seal on the outer envelopes is a little risky. I would love to do it also, but I heard that it may 'gunk' up the machines at the post office which may cause unwanted stray marks on the envelope.

My mom works there so this is where I first got the idea. It's definitely worth the work though!

Do you have a pic of it? I would love to see it.

recent post on faux wax

SonicStef did the red 'love' seal - there are a whole bunch of designs out there - links to them are in the thread above. 'Fauxwax' is basically just colored glue - So you can go to your local craft store and buy colored glue sticks without the big markup. I think I am using 'Old SChool Seals' for my brass seal. Supposedly, if you use the fake wax, it won't crack or break.
