Just asking

Yes! You are not the only one. I have never dreamed of the 'fairly tale' wedding. We are trying to plan a nice affair with very little fuss. We both don't enjoy being in the spotlight, but, do want to everyone have a fun day with no worries.

Every day that goes by I am starting to think that this is very overrated! I am extremely stressed as each day goes by and it gets closer to the big day!!! I want to elope right now!!!!!

Breathe girls breathe......when your day comes I'm sure you will love every minute of it!

Just remember it is about a marriage not a wedding!

I think we all have days when we want to chuck the whole thing during the planning (thankfully I only had a few of those) for various reasons.

But I can tell you that the wedding itself is SO MUCH MORE wonderful than I could have possibly imagined. Having nothing to do with all the details - its just this amazing atmosphere/feeling of being loved and loving everyone.

Only married girls will understand this but the best parts of that day are only something you can appreciate AFTER its over...no matter how many people tell you that you should savor it or take it all in, you will only realize how magical that day is the day after. (Isnt that sad?)

ORIGINALLY i WANTED TO ELOPE, THEN I wanted a no fuss wedding, but now I like the idea of putting some planning and personalism (is that a word) into it?

IMO I do not think the wedding thing is overated. Since I've been little I've dreamt about the special day and now that it is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality I want it to be how I've always imagined it. After all you only do it once in your life and it should be amazing and memorable! I understand you are stressed but try to enjoy every moment of the planning it will all be worth while

I had always wanted to elope! I truely wanted to skip out on the stress, planning etc.. I wanted my FH, a dress, rings and a private beach...
HE wanted the wedding, so we're having a wedding. Now that I'm/we're planning it, I wouldn't change a thing. (Including the stress) I guess I feel like it's making me stronger and I can handle anything that comes my way. (I'm not that far yet- but working on it )

FH always wanted to elope - and I wanted the wedding....I gave him the whole speach about dreaming about this day since I was a little girl and...blah blah blah and finally he gave in...
Now I wish I would have just said 'Let's elope'....but I have a feeling once it's over and done - I will be happy I had my day and the wonderful memories of it for the rest of my life...

I feel like Stef took the words right out of my mouth! It's really very true...DH and I even have a little video clip that we taped on the airplane before we took off for our honeymoon, saying how magical the day was and how perfect everything turned out.

The truth is, on my wedding video, you can see me saying to hubby while we are dancing, 'I'm having such a great time!' After all the stress of planning, I guess I was surprised that I was able to let it all go and just enjoy my day.

We had initially planned on a small intimate wedding with just us and our parents down at disney, but due to family health problems we had to cancel that and all my family (aunts, grandparents) were begging me to have a 'normal' wedding here. Now that I am planning a 'normal' wedding I am so glad I am. I think everything and all the planning is so much fun. I'm so glad we decided to do it!!!!

I agree a lot of it is overrated. We got married in October... and took a low-key attitude to everything. My Hubbie was great with the planning, I let my mom pick out a lot of the stuff like invites, programs... she was paying for it and has good taset, and to be quite frank I could have cared less about all the little details. The AM of the wedding I was getting my hair done and the girl said 'oh is this the trial' and I was like 'nope I tust you just do it like this'. I booked the first band I saw (based on reccomendations) and the first photgrapher too (loved his pictures, and lots of people i knew used him). Meanwhile my brother is getting married this summer and they put so much effort and planning into his wedding I almost feel bad. not really!! .

Don't sweat the small stuff. It blows over, just try to enjoy being together and the day.

I think everyone has their own version of a 'dream' wedding. For some it is a HUGE gala event, for others it is 20 people surrounding them on a beach with champagne in hand watching a sunset. Whatever your dream, it cannot be overrated.
I had a few times, like all other planning brides, when I could not take the stress anymore- between money, appointments, being tired of fighting with parents over stupid stuff etc... but on the day I am glad that I experienced every single minute of the whole planning process- good and bad.

I agree with Stef and Claud - the day is really magical. It is sooo much work but on that day, you don't even think about that. You are marrying the man you love. You are surround by the people you love most and who love you.

On more then one occasion at the reception, I had the opportunity to stop and look around the room for a second. I was thrilled that our guests were obviously having a great time, touched that all these people wanted to be here with us. Seeing that made it all worth it!

My FH

He has thought this whole wedding thing was overrated from the beginning. But I dragged him along. I expect he will finally get excited about the wedding about 5 minutes before I walk down the aisle.
