Anybody Else's FH/DH a Picky Eater?

My FH is such a picky eater. It is such a pain in the butt. I love to cook, but I am so limited because he hates everything. He hates chicken, except for chicken cutlet. He loves steak, but it has to be porterhouse. He does like London broil. He hates pork, except for pork cutlet. So darn picky. Any good recipes for those hard to feed picky FH's? Oh! He likes shrimp scampi ( but only gets this on occasions because shrimp are expensive)

Mine was for a long time.. all he ate was his mothers greesy chicken cutlets and pasta... It really took him to gain alot of weight and go on WW to try new things....He is so much better now....It takes time...Trust me..

I bake my chicken cutlets and make it into chicken Parm... I also take chicken cutlets.. pound them thin and take stuffing and wrap the chciken around it and bake it for 30min and then for the last 10min I cover it with fat free gravy.. my DH loves this....

Oh my goodness, I feel your pain!!

My DH is the most pickiest eater. If he had his way, we'd be eating steak and mashed potatoes everyday...maybe some corn on the cob for variety.

He doesn't like vegetables (as he says-except for potatoes LOL), nothing spicy, nothing ethnic.

I love to cook and try new recipes...it's quite a challenge for us both to be happy at the dinner table!!

The strange thing is he is in great shape, fairly athletic, always full of energy.

FH isnt really a picky eater - he just likes eating things the way that he is used to.

He does like one thing that totally skeeves me...

Spagetti and ketchup

Yuk!! My brother used to eat ketchup on pizza. He used to put ketchup on everything. He would put fried rice on pizza too. I never understood him, but I sure do miss him.

Picky! Ha... My Fh takes the cake, he does not use ketchup, mustard or mayo, got used to his mom overcooking things so likes things over cooked, does not use salad dressing, and hates Cheese except Mozarella. FMIL barely cooks so he never knew what good home made food tasted like! He also hates veggies, when he eats them he barely chews them and takes a big drink with them like a little kid! he also does not like ice tea, or soda. he will drink fruit punch , lemonade, or water. he is getting better, but it is taking time. It is so fustrating!

Sounds like my DH, he likes Ketchup and A1. Sandwiches are all plain no lettuce, cheese, or tomatoes. Does not like seafood. Only cheese he likes also is mozzarella. Doesn't like liquid in a bowl (soup). Says it makes no sense. Whatever that means. Finally got him to at least eat chinese food but all he gets is sesame chicken. Pretty much all he eats is hamburgers, steak and chicken cutlets. That's it.

Oh, I thought I was the only one!! FH will not eat:
Vegetables
ANY condiments (ketchup, mustard, NOTHING) except for one type of BBQ sauce
Beans
Most pasta
No sauces
No cheese
No cookies, cake, etc.. only plain chocolate ice cream

I can't stand cooking with him!!! We cook at the same time but make separate meals and sometimes they overlap a little. There are always so many dishes.

Princess, my FH loves anything he eats to be overcooked. Chicken cutlets need to be really brown. He does like my dads pasta sauce, so I hired my father. He makes a sauce and then freezes a bunch of containers of it for me. Too bad though because that is going to end when my father moves in a few months. Luckily I found a good marinara sauce at a local Italian market. We both liked their sauce.

Thank goodness Dh did not get some eating habits from his father...who would not mix sweet and salty foods (i.e french fries and ketchup)

MIL gave up and told him to cook for himself!!

DH eats much healthier than I do - I wish he'd rub off on me...

The only complaint I have is that since he has acid reflux he has to stay away from acidic foods like onion, garlic, tomato, citrus, etc. It makes cooking difficult!

Re: Anybody Else's FH/DH a Picky Eater?

OMG! I thought I was alone in this! LOL.

My DH is 100% Irish. His mother was not exactly the Betty Crocker type either. She cooked very bland plain meals. Basically she boiled everything, and potatoes were a BIG part of the meal.

My DH is very picky and has so many things he doesn't like. I LOVE to cook and try new things. I also love trying different ethnic foods. He won't go near them.

He doesn't like pizza (it 'lays in his stomach'), is sick to death of Chinese food (he eats it too often at work), and forget anything spicey. To him, regular black pepper is 'spicey!'

He also hates:

Cheese that 'smells like dirty feet'. This include parmagiana and ricotta, which he 'can't stand the texture of.' Naturally, he doesn't like lasagna.

He won't come within 10 feet of a bean in any form. I make an awesome chili. He won't go near it.

He doesn't like chunks of anything in his tomato sauce. Actually tomatoes in general give him heartburn.

He SWEARS that the different shapes of pasta all taste different. In other words, he thinks linguini tastes different than fettucine, or that elbows taste different than spiral twists! WHAT????!!! It's the SAME stuff only a different SHAPE!

And he absolutely CANNOT STAND any kind of greens sprinkled on his food, like parsley. If we're at a restaurant and they sprinkle it on his food or soup, he actually scrapes it off!! I told him I can't believe he can actually TASTE the parsley! He says it's not the taste, but he doesn't like the way the leaves 'feel in his mouth'!!!!!!

ETS: But he'll scarf down chips and Twinkies and things that are SO sweet I can smell the sugar from across the room!

OMG!!!

What's a girl to do!!

Not at all- I wouldnt be able to handle that. I like to cook and experiment in the kitchen and out to eat.

OMG this is so funny. My husband is so picky!! You can tell he was an only child. He will not eat chicken, turkey, any fish or seafood, ham, anything that is crunchy, hard or chewy and oh the list goes on!! . He eats only beef and pasta as main courses. Even then he cuts his meat into little, itty, bitty pieces before he eats it so he doesn't have to chew it that much.

This man can eat hambugers for lunch and dinner and it doesn't bother him one bit!! And he loads his hamburger with so much ketchup that it drips out all over the place. He would eat the same thing 2 or 3 nights in a row and be very happy. He loves mashed and baked potatoes but will not eat scalloped potatoes or rice.

I used to eat red meat maybe once or twice a month but since I met him I eat it several times a week because I get sick of having to cook two meals. Fortunately for me I am blessed with ridiculously low cholosterol and am also anemic so I can use the iron and protein.

I told him that if we ever win the lottery I am getting him his own chef so he can figure out 365 ways to cook chopped meat!!!!

I am glad to see I am not alone on this one. I had a thought, can u imagine all of our DH and FH having dinner together... they would not be able to eat one thing...LOL... Pretty funny if u think about it. They will be running back to us and beg us to cook whatever we want.
