Anybody have a good recipe for Rice Balls?

I absolutely love rice balls. My grandmas used to make the best rice balls. Unfortunately she passed away and I miss them soo much. I try them at every pizza place that has them but they stink. Any body have an old recipe from their grandmas?

I do, but it's in my Nick Stellino cookbook at home. If I remember, I'll post it. I haven't made them yet though, so I can't tell you how good the recipe is....

Thanks !! If you post it for me I'll make them and bring you one to try. I am craving them. I found some recipes online, I tried a couple but they were not like grandmas.

Holy cow! Rice balls? I used to love these but I haven't had them in forever!!

My Grandma used to make these, but she's 90 now, and forgets how she use to make some stuff.

I'm going to check with my mom and find out generally what goes in them, and then maybe we can figure something out???

I would love to figure out how to make them1

I found this on Allrecipes.com. It sounds good and not too difficult, maybe I will give it a try!

Italian Rice Balls

Ingredients

2 eggs
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 quart water
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup uncooked white rice
1 1/2 cups dried bread crumbs
2 cups olive oil

Directions
1 In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, cheese, parsley, pepper, and 1 teaspoon salt. Cover and refrigerate.
2 Pour water and 1 teaspoon salt into a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir in rice and reduce heat to low. Cook rice until water is almost absorbed, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and slowly pour in egg mixture, stirring rapidly to prevent egg from scrambling. Allow rice mixture to cool for 1 hour.
3 Pour bread crumbs into a pile on one end of a cutting board. Dampen hands and roll rice mixture into 1 inch balls, then coat each one with bread crumbs.
4 In a small, deep skillet, heat olive oil to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (Should have enough oil to completely cover rice balls.) Fry rice balls 6 at a time, turning as needed to ensure even browning. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.

My grandma's has some kind of chop meat in the middle. Anyone else??

I know I love the ones with chop meat and peas in the middle.

I think I have the same recipe as above at home (never tried it yet!) - but I like them much better with the meat. DH thinks that sounds gross! but he has never had one - esp. a homemade one (his mom buys the cheese and rice ones froma pasta store).

Okay, so at least I'm talking about the same kind as some of you are

My parents are coming up this weekend, so I'll ask my mom. Maybe we'll even try to make them??? The recipe above sounds pretty close, except for missing the meat and sometimes peas, and the size. My Grandma's were bigger.

yeah! My grandmas were bigger too. They were the size of baseballs.
