Anybody know any fool proof diets???

I want to lose about 25 lbs between now and when my dress comes in (which should be around March or April) which leaves me about 4-5 months. Any past brides use a particular diet that they found effective? TIA!

Weight Watchers. I've never heard anything bad about it.

I'm not advocating this as a healthy diet...but the Cabbage Soup Diet will supposedly make you lost weight...quickly. DH's cousin went on it and lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks when he needed to for something. Go to google and type in 'Cabbage Soup Diet' and you'll find info about it. It consists of eating nothing but this type of soup made fresh for a week, including fruit some days or a vegetable on another. Again, not very healthy but I do hear it works.

It has been reported that Weight Watchers is the only plan out that is truly effective.

ATKINS! Induction, if followed correctly, will make you lose anywhere from 5 to 15 lbs in a week! I can personally vouch for it. www.atkins.com has recipes, info, etc.

Weight Watchers has always worked for my mom. i am currently on a calorie counting diet, i just need to lose 5-10 pounds that i have put on. i cut soda and excess junk food out of my diet and limited my alcohol intake. alcohol slows down the fat burning process. i also walk for an hour or so a day and some crunches. i feel much better, but i havent seen results yet, b/c i just started. check out the slim down board. i dont think atkins is so safe. also cutting out pasta completly isnt my cup of tea.

edited to add:
check out the BMI site to figure out how many calories you need to burn, your BMR etc.

I'm on WW and I am down 22lbs in 3 months. It's great. Super easy to follow and stick with.

I think if you will do any type of diet long term go with weight watchers. Don't do any fad diets because they are quick fixes and if you fall off your back to square one.

Personally, I watch what I eat, but not too much. And I do a lot of cardio. I love food too much to really give things up and restrict myself.

I agree! But did you find that your hair thinned out from that diet? Mine did, but I dont know if it was from all the weight loss or the diet itself. The doctors said I was low in iron as well, which causes hair to thin. I'm just wondering if you had the same thing.

I tried Atkins and I literally thought I was going to die. Ok, i'm being a little dramatic. I am a huge caffine drinker. I drink a 16 oz. coffee every morning and a Super Big gulp diet coke every day. So when I went on atkins my body was screaming for caffine. I had a huge headache by 12 pm and I couldn't even eat dinner. I went to bed at 8 PM I was so exhausted. I should also mention that all I eat is carbs. I think my body went into shock. I did it for one day. NEVER AGAIN!!!

But if it works for you, more power to ya. My dad and brother lost a lot of weight on it. But they eventually gained it back.

Re: Anybody know any fool proof diets???

All the experts say for long term weight loss, the key is to lose slowly and steadily, about 1-2 pounds per week. To sucessfully manage that Weight Watchers is the way to go. If you follow the program, and write down what you are eating you will acheive your goal. I lost 30 pounds on WW, my sister lost 72. She kept it off until she got pregnant, and within 1 month of giving birth she was back at goal weight (obviously she didn't gain that much that wasn't the baby). I should add she didn't strictly follow WW while pregnant, but she did stick to all the healthy eating guidelines she had learned, like whole wheat pasta, and brown rice, and green leafy stuff.

As for me, until I got this ring, I kept it all off. I am now halfway to losing the 10 I put on after getting my ring.

you are right, a slow long term plan is the best. I just get discouraged if I don't see results right away. Why can't I be like DH and not be able to gain weight!?
