anybody know of a craft fair on li this weekend? I think this may be a cover for my shower...
ok, so I'm being AWFUL about my surprise shower... but I'm REALLY suspicious that it's this weekend.
My grandmother is in town for the weekend... not TOTALLY unusual, as she lives in Connecticut and comes to visit once every couple of months... but add on that a lot of gifts have been disappearing off my registry, and that I know that my moh is going to plan something, and that she's GOT to know that once September hits and I'm working again (I'm a teacher) I'll have a lot less free time... plus she told me that she's 'busy' this weekend... and then my mom asked me if I wanted to go with her and my grandmother and sister to a craft fair this weekend - and she knows, of course, that I'll NEVER turn down a craft fair. So, I went and looked it up, and I can't find one anywhere this weekend... I looked on Newsdays website, and did a general google search... nothing. But she's been pretty convincing, talking about which booths she wants to try and find again after the last one we went to, and saying she has to see what time my sister will be ready to go and she'll call me and let me know the time...
ok, I know I'm being really bad, and there's a good chance I'll spend my Saturday shopping blissfully and feel a teeny bit foolish later, but this all sounds so suspicious to me... so, confirm for me... any craft fairs going on this weekend?

oh stop! Let yourself be surprised. I hated that the surprise was ruined for me. It's totally normal to be curious, but think about this--if it IS this weekend, there are a whole bunch of people dying to see the look on your face when you're surprised, and do you want to ruin that for them? Just go with it and enjoy!

honestly, I'm not too worried about the surprise. I'd be happier if somebody would just tell me already.
It's not that I don't like surprises, it's that I've had a crappy week and it would give me something to look forward to - especially as most of my closest friends don't live on LI, and it would be AMAZING to know that I'd be seeing even one or two of them this weekend.
I'd rather have that than a surprise. And even if I know, I'll still probably burst into tears from happiness just seeing them, that's the kind of crappy week/summer it's been, so I'm not too worried about ruining my reaction for them.
It would sure as h#ll make the next couple of days more enjoyable knowing there was a light at the end of the tunnel...

and, bring an extra outfit that you may want to change into. I 'just so happened' to have a dress in the car!

Hahaha, well sounds like you're on to them. Try and forget about it so your not disappointed and you dont' ruin the surprise for yourself either way.

hmm... no, she said it was in St. James, at Deepwell House - we went to one there this spring.
I just searched for the Holbrook one and didn't see anything either.
Honestly, if nothing else, I just wanted to search for the craft fair to know what vendors would be there! Like I said, I'm a craft fair junkie, my mom knew that I never say no to a craft fair...
