Anybody know stats?

I know this is a long shot, but I figured, I'll try....I'm taking an online data analysis class for grad school, and I don't think this question makes sense -

Contrast the variability of most variables with the variability of the normal distribution.

Anyone??? I will be forever indepted to you if you can decipher this!

Oy vey - what a sentence!! The only thing that possibly makes any sense to me is that in comparison to the normal distribution, compare/contrast the other variables. I'm probably wrong though!

The only thing I could think was 'most variables, when provided a large enough sample size, reflect a normal distribution' But I don't even know if that is true, and even if it is - that doesn't exactly reflect anything resembling the word contrast!

God help me - hopefully someone in my class can figure this out by Sunday when the assignment is due.
