i think this is part of the reason why my mom is having such a problem with our relaxed attitude..fh has children from a previous marriage. how are you dealing with it if you're in the same boat..

Re: anybody marrying with kids involved already
FH has an adorable 4 year old daugther from a previous relationship..... of all the things I thought my family would have an issue with, I thought for sure this would be one of them.
But thankfully, that is not the case... they all love her.
My issue after the marriage is most likely to be being recognized as an authoritative figure and not just the playmate I am now.

yeah i guess that's an issue but my fh seems to think that i should retain the role of the playmate and let him do the punishing..if you think about it and i was the children's mom..i wouldn't want someone else reprimanding my children..its a tough thing but i'm sure we'll work it out as time goes on..

Yes, I see your FH's point and to a certain extent I agree.

Re: anybody marrying with kids involved already
She's going to be my FG. She's very excited about it... and she keeps telling me, 'knows exactly what to do.' because she was FG in a cousin's wedding this past October.

Steve Carl basically told me that I could let him know that morning if I wanted it changed to the inside. After all it is one wedding at a time, I would think that would make it a little easier set up wise on their end of things.

Yes... my FH has two children. They are both in the wedding party. My situation may be different since they live with us.. they are great kids! Sometimes it can be difficult coming into a relationship when there are kids involved.

Re: anybody marrying with kids involved already
I gained a stepson last month when I got married. When DH and I first started dating, my dad had a problem with him having a kid. But gradually he saw how much love I had for DH and his son and he accepted them both. Now, my dad is extremely happy, its like a whole new dad after I got married. My mom, accepted him from day one. She is so happy to be a step-grandma. DH's son was his best man at our wedding. We also had a special little gift for him. After we lit the unity candle, the priest spoke of my stepson and how we were becoming a new family. He then told everyone that DH and I would like to present stepson with a gift to symbolize our new family and our promise to always be there for each other. Our gift to him was a beautiful cross and chain. It was definiteley a very special momnet in our ceremony that I will never forget.
FH has a daughter from a previous marriage...she is 7. She is going to be the FG...and extremely excited about it.
The thing I worry about most...she does not have a good relationship with her mother...and neither to we (FH and I). FH would like to pursue having custody of her...which is fine with me...but it won't be an easy road. I'm not sure when/if we will do this. As for the wedding...we are just hoping that the mother (Abby as we call her), doesn't ruin anything, like not letting her come or something.
We have a great relationship...and the funny thing is that everyone says she looks exactly like me...and nothing like her mother (all of FH's family said this to me!). When my family met her...they all said the same thing.

Re: anybody marrying with kids involved already
i appreciate all of the replies and the pics were great..i'm sure my mom will get used to it..she loves his kids that's not the problem..i think its the traditions that she's losing with the children being in the bridal party..i have my 3 nieces, his 3 daughters and my matron of honor..i'm not sure how the ceremony is going to go with the officiant..i guess once i meet with one i'll know better..do any of you recommend an officiant?
