Anyody had their Kitchen re-done

I am ripping out my entire kitchen and want to know who does a good/fast job at replacing one. I have hated that kitchen for a while and my first big project after the wedding it to get a new one. I want o put in a diswasher, all new cupboards, stove, fridge. Anybody ever have this done? I know one lady who had it done but the people she hired were a disaster. Anybody have some good recommendations?

My FMIL is doing this now too. All new cabinets - 4 days.
She's keeping the floor for now and we (FH&I) are doing the painting though.
Do you need someone to do everything?

I guess I need someone for everything. What else needs to be done? I don't know if they can do it in 4 days though. It is a semi big job. The stove has been there since the 40's maybe, there may be some re-wiring involved.

Well a new floor, painting, new appliance, electrical work, cabinets, etc ... will all take longer. FMIL is doing Cabinets only so it's only 4 days. Good luck!

Yes, im doing it now. DONT RIP ANYTHING OUT YET!!

Finding a good contractor was a nightmare. I finally found a great guy but he always has several months of jobs in line. So we found him in October I think, and he couldnt start until last week.

Another thing are cabinets. Sweet mary moses, what an extreme pain. Between shopping for them, designing the new kitchen and now dealing with the cabinet company with all the f ups they've made. (evidently, this is very common but its still frustrating)

And then there are a ton of other things that need to be done like picking out flooring, countertops, lights, backsplash, appliances, etc.. And that has to be done before the contractor starts.

We are doing a complete renovation (new plumbing, electrical, walls, windows, doors, etc...) and the estimates were originally 2 weeks for the work, 2 weeks for the granite. Now that we have had some cabinet issues, its going to be at least another week or two on top.

PS: everything is soooo expensive. you would not believe what a sink strainer costs no less the whole thing.

O jumping Jehovah it sounds like alot more than I was anticipating. Finding the right person for the job is the biggest pain in the a$$. I have tried and it is pointless I can't find anybody in the city that is reasonably priced. How would you recommend I go about this in a way that I don't give myself and ulcer in the process.

I just had my kitchen ripped out too. My hubby's cousin is a contractor and he did all the work in my kitchen. My hubby helped alot too. My hubby's uncle ripped out the whole kitchen to bare studs. We also got a new dishwasher and microwave. The stove and fridge are already brand new. It's almost done. I'm waiting for my counter top. It should be here by next week. We also still have to do the backsplash. I will try and post some pics. of the finished product. My hubby to some pics. with his digital of before and after.
