know if islip is a bad area to live? i found a house i LOVE but not sure about the neighborhood

Islip is iffy depends on the area anything NORTH of sunrise hwy close to islip ave is not so great anymore. FH lives in a aparment right near 7-11 and i have to say when he walks up to sevs there are more odd balls there then ever. The houses more inn from islip ave on the north side of sunrise are very nice and the neighborhood is still intact.
South of Sunrise is nice some small patches of **** houses but maj. or REALLY nice places to live and the town is great! Anything South of Main st. your RICH and no worries.

anything south of montauk is nice in islip and the surrounding towns (for the most part)

It's a mixed neighborhood. If you can find out specifically where, then we can help more.
Basically speaking, South of Montauk = very nice, very old homes.
South of Union Blvd. but North of Montauk Hwy = More of a transition, Not so nice closer to Union, nicer towards Montauk.
North of Union South of Sunrise = Eh...
North Of Sunrise = Mixed. My friend's mom lives there and her house is GORGEOUS...but then there are not so nice ones. But generally it's ok.
