Re: Anyone actually ever been to Salem...
We went in 2001. It was alright. The house of Seven Gables was pretty cool. The witch trials were pretty neat too. There is a bunch of haunted houses and crap but it's typical and some are ultra cheezy. There was this other place my brother checked out, something like the Pilgrim Village or something. He said it was horrible and extremely boring. He said there was this indian shredding corn behind these ropes and people just stood there and stared at him?!? I stayed at the Days Inn just outside of town. It was a bit dumpy. It's good for a one time hit but I wouldn't go more than that. I honestly expected it to be a little better than it was.

Yeah, some of it can be cheezy but I had a great time and I am going again on 10/22. There are lots of shops, like a big craft fair.
As far as where to stay, it is pretty popular so I don't know if hotels have any availability. I am staying in the Holiday Inn in Peabody.
