I seem to remember her having a baby with a African-American man and then giving it up for adoption to an Asian mom and African-American dad. Am I nuts? Who was the father???

She did have a child. She gave him up for adoption.

The baby's father was one of the doctor's on the show.

Dr. Pratt was not on the show when Dr Chen got pregnant....remember the episode where Pratt and Chen were starting to see each other and he was shocked that she had a baby and gave it up for adoption???
Pratt is definetly not the father.
ETA: When she was first on the show she was known as Deb...when she came back as Dr Jing Mae Chen, she revels shortly that she is pregnant. Actually on TNT, ER has reruns on every day at 10am and 11am....I was watching it today before coming to work and Chen just came back to the show...

They did reveal who the father was, I think. He was a minor character. I thikn he didn't knw she was pregnant untill it wa sobvious, they werne't together at the time.
Carter was there when she had the baby- he always called her Deb--I didn';t know why.
She tried to do it alone, but she needed support- she had 2nd thoughts, but gave the baby up.

She did, he was in two episodes, when they met he was a patient and the when she confronted him. He is in a lot of movies, he is in a movie with vivica fox, but I don't know his name
