It was really nice. Depends on what youre looking for though.....there are no set meal schedules, and no 'formal nights.' Its a 'newer' ship - I think its only like 3 years old. I really enjoyed it.

I LOVE Norweigian. Ive done Carnival and Norweigian and Norweigian is sooo much better. classier, better food, relaxed meal times, no assigned tables (you and DH dont have to sit with strangers and could get a table for two!)

I was on it but I was not a big fan. I happen to like having a set meal time and table every night. I felt like the staff didn't really care how they did since they were all getting a share of the tips that are automatically added to your account.

The ship is nice. Shows are good. Overall we had a good time.
Book excursions ahead of time.
The food is better at the specialty restaurants. As soon as you get on board try to make reservations for the week because they book fast. Tip: go to the main lobby to make the reservation because it is impossible to get thru on the phone.
Every night we did the same thing. Go eat, then watch whatever show was going on, then go to the club and watch the kareoke, which then turns into a club.
Rooms are small, just like Carnival. But the service was great. All the employees are very friendly.
They have a nice spa and if you get a treatment they let you use the spa for the rest of that day. It has a wading pool and this really nice jacuzzi. Very relaxing.
Pool area is fun. Service there was good also.

We've been on a number of cruises including Royal Carribean, Carnival & Norwegian. Like Suzanne above, we were not big fans of the go as you please meals. Although it could be convenient, we felt you lost something by not sharing your day with your tablemates and that the waitstaff wasn't as attentive as if you had a set meal time/table each night. The ship, activities and stops were excellent though.
It all depends on what you are looking for.

I went on the NCL Dawn twice...we had a great time both times. I just like that you can go anywhere you want to eat at any time. Also, one of the cruises we went on went to 5 different islands, we would have never been able to do that if we weren't on a cruise. We didn't have to pack and unpack several times. At one island, we went to the beach for half the day, went back to the boat to eat lunch and shower, and then spent the other half of the day shopping! We went on NCL this summer, and we loved it.
The only thing I would have changed was where our room was located. But overall it was great, and we also loved the specialty resaurants.

A great website to check out is www.cruisecritic.com. They do a review of every ship and people post their own reviews of the ship and rate everything from the food to the rooms to the entertainment. I have been looking into going on a cruise out of New York and have been reading about the Norwegian Dawn and Spirit on there. They both get a lot of mixed reviews.
