Anyone been to Italy?
We are planning our Italy Honeymoon (so excited) through Liberty Travel and I'm concerned about some of the Hotels they reccomend. We honestly can't afford to go all out on 5 star hotels, but I'd like to make sure the hotels we do select are in good locations and respectable. Has any one stayed at the following hotel in Italy? and if so, can you tell me what your experience was? Rome - Atlantico Hotel Florence - Hotel Croce di Malta Venice - Grand Hotel Principe THank you so much.

Anyone been to Italy?
Hi Jen - I went to Italy last summer with my fiance and we went to Rome, Florence, Naples, Capri, and Pisa. I just wanted to tell you that if you are going to Italy, you HAVE to go to Capri!!!! It was the most beautiful place. It is a little island off the coast of Naples (which I didn't like very much). We stayed at the Caesar Augustus and it was amazing and so inexpensive. We changed our whole Europe trip around so that we could stay there longer. I definitely recommend that you stay at that hotel. Let me know if you have any questions.

I don't recognize the names of the hotels, but go to Fodors.com and in their hotel section people post 'rants and raves' about their experience. I use it a lot when I plan trips. Good Luck.

Julykbride - question about Italy
Hi, I just saw your reply about Italy. I have my heart set on going there for my honeymoon in July 2003. My fiance on the other hand, thinks it will be boring and wants the beach atmosphere. We are going on a cruise to Bermuda this year I and want to do something very different for our honeymoon. So I have latched onto the idea of going to Italy. Can you tell me what you did and what the weather was like when you went? I have a year to talk him into it before we really need to decide and I want to start as soon as possible. Any selling points would be much appreciated! Becky

Julykbride - question about Italy - LONG
I went to Italy in August, 2001. I planned the whole trip and we were in Italy for 2 weeks. My fiance wasn't too excited about going to Capri. But the minute we showed up at the hotel in Capri he said 'do you think we could cancel our trip to florence and just stay here longer?' So we did and never wanted to leave! My FI is definitely the active type, while I love laying around relaxing and swimming, but he was in heaven the whole time. It is an amazing island with amazing restaurants, shops, scenery, and the hotel was fabulous!!! We paid $117/night and got breakfast every morning and had a terrace that was the size of a hotel room! There is also stuff to do. We ate out for lunches and dinners everday and the restaurants were soooo cheap with great food. We also visited all the shops on the island and we did an amazing (easy) hike for half a day that I'll remember forever! Also you can visit the famous cave there (Blue Grotto). If you need more details let me know. By the way, Rome was great too! And it was only a couple of hour train ride (maybe two) btwn that and Capri. I would only stay in Capri for a week though and do Rome for a couple of days.

We are going to Italy for our honeymoon...
the trip is not booked yet, but we plan on going to the Almalfi coast, Capri, Sardinia, and then Sourthern Italy to stay w/ family (poss. more locations). I was the one who wanted beach spots, and there are plenty of them! I did a search on line, and found some amazing places. Good luck! Continued success to all...

I lived in Italy, so ask me anything!
I lived in Italy while in Highschool and during college, so if you want the best places to go, 'off the beaten path' ask me. Florence is a must, although in the summer months, it will be very crowded with tourists. If you do the Amalfi coast, driving can be tough, but you must go to Positano. It is where the filmed 'Only You' with Marisa Tomei (great film if you want to convince your FI to see Italy). Venice of course, is another must. There is no other city in the world like it. However, if you visit Italy, and you skip Sicily, then you really didn`t see Italy. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful island in the world (and I went to Tahiti and Bora Bora for my honeymoon). If you want any further details, please don`t hesitate to ask.

Becky - question about Italy -
Becky - That's great you'll try to sell the idea to your fiance to go to Capri. You can also tell him that the hotel we stayed at has a pool that waterfalls into another pool and that waterfalls off a cliff! It's so beautiful, the view is amazing since the hotel is at the top of the island.Welcome New Vendors
