Re: Anyone been to Italy in October?
Hey Stef-I keep reading that the weather should be one of the nicest months there-supposedly 70-80's!
I'm going to pack some summer stuff and a few pairs of jeans, maybe a sweater or 2....
Hope this helps!

Re: Anyone been to Italy in October?
Sonicstef:We were in Italy around mid-March, and at that time on a good day I would wear a top + cardigan or turtlenecks, on a bad day we had light leather jackets. Its was colder in Venice, but nice in Rome and Florence. I think it was in the mid-high 60's to mid 70's then. Bring some silk scarfes if you have any, they're pretty fashionable there. Also wear comfy rubber soled shoes for the cobblestones (I wore rubber soled loafer type shoes the whole time there). And watch you pocketbook/bags in crowded areas, esp. in Venice and Rome.

Re: Anyone been to Italy in October?
Stef, have you been to fodors.com?There is a very active Europe forum there. Since you don't need to sign up to post, and you can post anonymously, you sometimes need to weed through the typical trash...but I've received good advice and valuable tips there.
Can't wait to hear all about your h-moon, so pls post review when you return!! We are thinking of going to Italy for 1st anniversary, since we couldn't pull it together for our honeymoon.
Ciao!!

Re: Anyone been to Italy in October?
You will love it. I visited Italy several times as a child with my grandfather (who was born in Naples). For financial reasons, we are postponing our Italy vacation until next yr and opting for a honeymoon cruise.October is 'Bellisimo' - really it is the BEST time to go to Italy, both in terms of weather and festivals, sightseeing etc. Italians take holiday throughtout the summer so a lot of things are closed - they resume 'normalcy' in the fall. Ciao!

Thanks Verdilla - but do you know what sort of clothing works best? (Shorts/ pants, long sleeve/short sleeve)

Re: Anyone been to Italy in October?
sonicstef-If youre south- it will obviously be slightly warmer. I would bring capri pants, skirts, long summery dresses and sexy dresses for those romantic dinners along the coast!
Walking shoes or sneakers for day trips, sandals for evening. Bring a pair of jeans and one or two long sleeved shirts and a light coat for the cool evenings if youre in the mountains up north. Other than that I would pack spring/summer clothing.

Re: Anyone been to Italy in October?
Stef - I think it's very similar to here - maybe a tad bit warmer in October than it might get here - although it never seems to get cold around here anymore! I would say you are best with a few skirts and long pants. I dont' think you are going to need shorts. I'd definitely bring some long sleeve shirts and maybe a few light sweaters. A few tee shirts - but I dont' think you'll be looking to wear tank tops or anything like that.Welcome New Vendors
