We're thinking of going to Montreal, but we're not sure. How was it (if you've already been?) Where did you stay, do, etc.?

I have tons of friends in Montreal...beautiful place! I've stayed at the Queen Elizabeth for a conference...beutiful hotel! Also...you must go to Gibby's for dinner...it's a steakhouse (they have other things also). I don't usually eat steak...but this place is great. Very cozy. I love Montreal. I didnt stay in the city because I went there to go skiing so we stayed outside the city to be closer to the mountain. But Montreal is Gorgeous and really a fun place. And other place to consider and its also in Quebec is Quebec City, I havent been there but I have heard it is a gorgous city as well! I really want to go there!

Montreal is awesome! Everyone there is bilingual, so it's like being Paris but no need for an interpreter. And the exchange rate is awesome - food is so cheap.
Old Montreal is so romantic. I would get a Frommers book or go to their website and do the walking tour listed there. The Baliscia (sp?) is amazing, but don't do the light show.
Try www.biddingfortravel.com for info on bidding for hotels with Priceline. I stayed in the 4-star montreal Hilton Bonaventure for $40 a night!
Rue St. Catherine is a trip - Montreal is a lot less uptight about sex, so there are strip clubs and sex shops right next to the major shopping centers. But it's totally safe, espeically if you're from NYC (I am).
Quebec City is also supposed to be very romantic, although they're more Francophile there.

I personally love the Canada's west coast :) Victoria and Vancouver :) But I heard Montreal is great as well...Niagra Falls in Toronto ...romantic spot :)
