It has always been my dream to stay at Singita in South Africa for a safari. I also want to go to Cape Town. Has anyone been?

Try Jan05Bride or AndreaLMT (she's on LIF now)....we're going for our honeymoon in October and I got a lot of info from both of them. AndreaLMT actually gave me the idea for the honeymoon!!!

I just read your review. Amazing pictures!! I really want to go to Singita. Did you check it out? Also, what airline did you fly? How many days did you stay at the safari? TIA

Thank you. We flew South African airways (or airlines). The flights were good. Flew out of JFK directly to Johannesburg, then a quick flight to Cape Town.
We did a safari for 3 days, but spent a total of 15-16 days in Africa. Went to Cape Town, Cape Winelands, Vic Falls (Zimbabwe).
Singita seemed lovely, but quite $$$, and we really wanted to get more of the real 'safari experience' & thought Singita just may be a bit too luxe. We instead went for luxury on the rest of our trip. Our safari camp was gorgeous, we had a luxury tent, and the food was top notch. Honeyguide Safari in the Manyaleti Game Reserve (outside Kruger) is what we chose.

We did most of the trip on our own. We had a wonderful private guide/driver in Cape Town. The only time we were w/ a group on the trip was when we actually were in the Rover on safari (and the group was around 4-6 of us total). Now that I think about it, it might have been 4 days in the Game Reserve, but we definetly felt it was enough time. You go on 2 game drives a day, and we did a couple of walking safaris as well.

You need to get shots before you go - a friend of mine went a couple of years ago. You definitely have to get a malaria shot and some others (sorry I can't remember all of them now).

Shots were not necessary for us. Malaria pills are recommended, you can always buy them over-the-counter when you get there. I didn't get one single bug bite while we were there!

For East Africa we were only required to have Yellow Fever innoculation and we took malaria Pills while we were there (once per day). I got 2 bug bites in 2 weeks there, not bad at all.
