OMG, It is my favorite place on earth!!! DH's parents have a house there and I love going. So much to do. First, stay by Mount Snow in West Dover. It is so close to everything.

You want to go shopping at the awesome outlets in Manchester (gorgeous and minutes away), do a picnic and take a gondola up the mount snow mountain and walk down, do a spa day at the Grand Summit hotel, go antiquing in Wilmington, stay at a B and B with real innkeeper (Lucille and Jerry) at the Red Shutter Inn or the Inn at Quail Run. Every restaurant and place there is so uncommercialized and countryesque. We also invaded the pool at the Gran Summit and had drinks around the deck. In August, they have a lot of muurder mystery weekends up there at local inns which is cool too. Heaven on earth!!!

It depends on where you want to go. We went to the University of Vermont and FH is from right near there as well.

Mt Snow area is really nice, but i would suggest going a little more north closer to burlington or stowe. If you stay in burlington, stowe is just 1/2 hr down rt. 89. You can hike, take the gondola etc. It really is a great little ski town that has stuff to do in the summer as well. Also while you are in stowe go on a tour of the BEN AND JERRY's factory!

Burlington is the largest city in vermont and TRUST ME us LIers will NOT think of it as a city. You can go shopping on church street (a brick street that is closed to car traffic). There are GREAT restaurants down there too. If you are looking to go to an AMAZING restaurant go to NECI.

Or if you want to eat good seafood on the water of lake champlain go to the Shanty on the Shore.

If you have any other questions send me an FM. I LOVE Vermont and can give you more info if you wantn any more!

Fh and I go about 3-4 times a year! We love it there! He used to go with his parents when he was little.

We stay on Lake Bomoseen, its the south-west part of VT. Its so beautiful and relaxing. THeres only one hotel on the lake called the Edgewater and its SOOOO cheap!

We just go fishing and hangout. We went apple picking last fall and it was great! So much fun! They also have strawberry and blueberry picking if your into that.

Good Luck!

I've been to So. Burlington (I think it was south) to a wedding 10 yrs ago in the fall and the foliage was amazing. It's such a beautiful state.

Been to Woodstock many times but only in the winter - adorable, quaint town but not sure how *exciting* it would be in August ...

Woodstock is great in August, too.
I have been to MT Snow and Killington, only in the winter and hated it. Great scenery but I don't ski.

I'm not much of a help, considering the only time I've been there is in winter. It's gorgeous in the wintertime though, but absolutely freezing. FH and I were planning to go on a sled ride (pulled by a horse), but it was cancelled because it was too cold (30 below wind chill!). We spent most of our time indoors.
