I booked the Skylight room and went there the other day and when I saw all of the tables set up...I felt like room looked so crammed and small. I felt so disappointed :( Anyone having their reception here? How many tables are you going to have and did your room feel small when you saw the tables set up??

Re: ANyone book the Skylight room at JT???
I believe I am having 14 tables. I saw them set up I thought it looked fine. Now I am talking about the original Skylight room, not the new one which is currently the penthouse. Not sure which one you saw. But if it's my same room which is the Skylight Terrace room I believe it loked fine. Did you see it being prep for a wedding? b/c flowers does make the rooms look smaller

the skylight terrace room is when they use the WHOLE room which fits 400 ppl, i used the whole room for my wedding. For weddings around 150 ppl or less they put up a partition so make sure you saw it with the partition in, although you said theyhad 14 tables so sounds like it. I had about 275 guests give or take a few, i dont even know how many exactly came day of lol some didnt show but then some extra showed lol, but we had 22 tables. I answered the OP on bhb, and feel bad bc seems like they didnt show it to her that way.

What do you mean the whole room? do you mean combined with the cocktail room? b/c when I 1st went they showed me just the cocktail room b/c there was a wedding in the reception room. When I went the second time they showed us both rooms but i believe there was a separate entrace for both rooms, but then i went to the showcase and I noticed that when I was eating in the cocktail room I was able to see right into the skylight room, I was so confused, but never bothered to ask a question. Anyway, on your day, was the cocktail room and reception room closed from each other?

no it wasnt the cocktail and reception opened together, that was completely separate. The skylight room holds up to 400ppl, they put up a wall though and split the room in half for smaller weddings. Unless you see both when they use the whole room and when they dont, you would never know a wall is even put up. When i first saw it the wall wasnt put up which was good bc we used the whole room. I had went another time and a partition was put up in the middle of the room for smaller weddings, i think about 150 or so. BUT the cocktail hour room is NOT used during the reception at all that is still separate no matter what. Like i said i had 275 guests, and theyve even had weddings with 350 guests in the skylight room
ETA: when you use the whole room, those 2 entrances from the hallway like you mentioned in your above post, both are used to go into the room doesnt matter which door you use. When you use half of the room then you only use the door close to the reception desk. When you walk all the way down to the end by the elevator and where the hall way ends thats also another entrance, thats the door i used to make our entrance and bp entrance

Re: ANyone book the Skylight room at JT???
if i remember correctly, its been a long time since i saw the room split in half, about 2 years. But i dont think you use the side with the glass ceiling and chandeliers. Here is a pic from wedding day. Our sweetheart table was to the right of the pic
when its split in half i think you use it from the part where the ceilings look like this, is this correct?
also if you notice other pics from other brides, you will see that behind their table is a mural this is when you use half the room. When you use the whole room you have this in the background, those glass type doors. Hope this explained it a bit

not sure, my minimum for the whole skylight room was 275 actually and i came at right about that, i was under by just a few i think. Definitely call and ask. I think the max for half of the skylight room is a bit over 200 so dont know what they will say. Also dont let them take from the CH, i dont even know how they would do that. At the end by the bar theres an entrance from CH room to reception room but thats about it. I needed the whole CH room to be used JUST for CH. I also did my VH in the CH room bc i didnt want tables in the middle of the room. They dont love doing this i'll say but they did when i asked. ALSO to use the whole room they charge more so its better off not to if you already booked at a certain price
ETA: also not 100% sure which half they use, so they might use the half with the skylight and not use the other side. Which i would think actually since it is the skylight. Do you know how much further it went past the dance floor? I had a bunch of other tables set up PAST the dance floor about 6-8 more tables set on the other side. So maybe thats the side that you wouldnt use which makes more sense.

Well when they showed it to me I saw the the skylight and like you said, if they call it the skylight they should close another half instead. I just went on the website and both skylight rooms show the actual skylight, just that one shows the cocktail room. I'll call tomorrow

Yeah then they close the other half, probably where i had all the tables set up on the other side of the dancefloor. So in the pic i posted above with me talking to somebody and the ceilings looking like that. Which makes more sense to close that side since its called the skylight lol. But yeah i DIDNT use any part of the CH room as part of my reception, those were separate from eachother and couldnt take any part away from CH room bc with 275 guests we needed the room for CH room too. Sorry i said they close off the side with the skylight, closing the other side makes more sense. You probably have the area with the skylight, then the dance floor. I had 7 tables on one side of the sweet heart table and another 8-9 tables on the other side of our table which ALL were either right before the dancefloor or right in front of the dance floor and you said in a previous post there were 14 tables so that makes sense then. All my other tables were past the dance floor and thats where it'd be cut off
