Anyone book their Honeymoon through expedia or travelocity?

Anyone book their Honeymoon through expedia or travelocity?

We spoke with a couple of travel agencies. It seems like, once they hear honeymoon, the cost jumps up. I feel like I shouldn't even say we are going on our honeymoon. What will we miss out on a free bottle of champagne? It seems like 5k seems to be the min., which we don't mind spending, but not for someplace local. What are your thoughts?

Thanks guys!!!

I booked our honeymoon cruise via Orbitz. I haven't had any problems. I got all the paperwork and even called to make sure they had the reservation. I didn't buy our airline tickets throught them bc I was able to use our timeshare points to purchase the tickets.

I think it depends on where you want to go. If you are looking for something exotic where you visit a few islands, then I would go with a travel agent bc they can coordinate all of your transfers, etc.. If you're gonna stay somewhere for the whole time, I say try the online booking. If you can save a couple of hundred then you'll have enough to buy your own bottle of champagne JMO

My thoughts exactly. We are thinking of Europe. Venice, Florence and then Paris. I feel pretty confident in planning a trip like. We have both been to Europe several times but not to those places. I just don't want to feel like we are missing out on something bu not booking through a 'land' travel agency.

Thanks!!

I actually booked with a travel agent but it was after I reasearched prices on Expedia and Travelocity. That way, when she told me prices, I was able to tell her what I found myself and she tried to match or beat it. It's good to be an informed consumer.
I preferred dealing w/an agent b/c she was able to recommend the better hotels and she will make sure that the flight, hotel and car all link up and I don't have to worry.
In the end, we got a hooneymoon package that included a convertible car, champagne, and breakfast for the same price that we would have had a compact car and no breakfast.

On my trips to Florida (non-honeymoon though) I've 1) booked it all myself the normal wat

2) used a travel agent

3) Used hotwire, and orbitz..

I got the BEST prices by far from Orbitz and Hotwire. Really great prices and never any problems. I was able to get skymiles and everything...and if you do research you cna find the best hotels on your own. My travel agent was kind of useless. I mean, lok, they cna be nice and helpful, but you have to remember, the more u spend on the vacation, the more $$ they get.

ETA: From Orbitz, I got RT for 2 people to Orlando for $270 total.

For my June trip to Ft. lauderdale, I Hotwired my hotel. I got the Crowne Plaza for $46 a night. The normal price is at least $80.

I'm definitely going to try to Orbitz my flight for my honeymoon (we're gonna spend a cuple days at disney and then a week somewhere in the caribbean)...orbitz isn't always the best price, you have to show around..for my june trip, the best flight was from jetblue.com.

if it's not international, i definitely wouldn't use a travel agent.

For the absolutely lowest price on Hotels, Priceline is UNBEATABLE. go to www.biddingfortravel.com for info.

Other than that, try www.sidestep.com and www.travelaxe.com for hotels. Both are programs you need to download, but they're multiple seach engines for travel - they go directly to the airlines/hotels sites and get their prices. Travelaxe seaches all the discount sites.

i book most of my vacations through expedia and have had no problems... i say if you are confident book it yourself i will probably end up doing this accept the fact a close family friend works for a travel agent so i might let her do it

just do research and find out where you want to go

I'm going to Disney for 12 days and booked the whole thing through expedia. I did all the research I could with all the sites and at the time, they were the best. We got the air, hotel, car, park tickets to Disney, universal and Sea world, breakfast every day all for less then 3k. If you do the work, it is worth it.
