Anyone call OFF a wedding?

Has anyone called off a wedding and if so what was the reason and how did you get money back from halls, photographer etc??

i called off a wedding, but luckily it was early enough that no real money had been put down... and the money that was put down my ex was responsible for. i don't know if he got it back, and frankly i don't care.
i called it off b/c he was cheating from day one and i finally came to my senses.
also... i realized i was in love with my now FH.

I never called off a wedding but where is your RH?

if its suffolk county then you get your money back if you do it up to 6 months ahead of time, well you get everything back but $100

nassau and other places, i would read your contract, it does say in there what will happen...i have that part in the back of my contract...depending how far ahead of time you cancel then it says you will STILL owe money, not exact numbers that are given but an example is 30% if you do it a year ahead of time youll owe, or 50% 6 months before the wedding and 75% if its closer to the wedding day

same thing with vendors, this should be in the contract...i know i read for some of my vendors that even if i were to cancel i would still owe them the remaining balance

dresses, once you place the order and its in production then you still owe the balance on the dress.

just go over each and every contract, all this info is in there

i would have left sooner... but my ex had been my best friend for years... he knew the trouble i'd gone through with other boyfriends... i did not want to believe he was doing that to me. i didnt want to throw away years of friendship over it either. but we both knew we let the relationship go too far. he became abusive later on in the relationship as well.
if it werent for my current FH i'm scared to think where i would have ended up. he's a real life knight in shining armor.
