Sooo....made sure I left XC practice early enough to catch OPRAH.......The topic was Polygamy (when men have multiple wives) I find it soooo Interesting...But could never imagine how people can share their man with other women...It was so interesting any thoughts??:

I missed it too, but speaking of polygamy, I love watching BIG LOVE on HBO--anyone ever see it?
I could never imagine sharing FH with ANYONE else, but it's really interesting to see how people deal with their emotions and with living with other wives.

I LOVE BIG LOVE - I am still convinced the writers read and old NY times piece on polygamy and were motivated to write it!! THE SHOW IS FABULOUS but I really am getting sick of Alby!

I just read an article in Time magazine today about this topic. It was an interview with a women who escaped from the sect Warren Jeffs headed. She was saying how the wives have to compete for the husbands attention and money and the wife in charge always get stuff for her and her kids while the others suffer. Also, abuse is typicall rampant, at least it was in her case. I don't know how those women do it. Although I guess they don't have much of a choice as they are usually married at young ages at the demand of their parents.
i am so against poligamy that I dont even watch Big Love ..I am too much of a jealous ***** that I would never share my man knowingly and willingly .. I'll kill a b!tch lol!

I didn't watch it but I read a biography of a woman once who was the wife of a polygamist it was wayyyyy weird. They really think it's okay for him to do that but it said they get crazy jealous of each other if he has more children with one wife or of the youngest one

I started watching Oprah, but then I figured I'd never get out so I finally turned off the TV.
I LOVE Big Love..but I have to admit I was a little disappointed this past season. It seemed like they tried to do too many things per episode. I liked in the first season when the focus was more on the family and how the wives interact.
I have to admit that I'd be afraid that I might catch something...I mean the husband is having unprotected sex with all the wives...that just skeeves me out.
