FH is paranoid about booking the church first, before the reception place. I'm currently waiting on my annulment to go through (will be another 2-3 months) and I really do NOT want to wait until then to book a hall. I'm off starting Thursday for 12 days & want to get going on the hall & such.
Has anyone experienced church problems AFTER they booked their hall? (i.e, date/time no being available?)
We wouldn't tell the church we booked the hall, but I just don't want to wait another 3 months to book.
Thanks.

Re: Anyone church booking problem After booking hall?
Well if you book the hall first I wouldn't tell the church....
this is what I did we picked a date put it on hold at the Swan Club then we went to the church and said this is the date we want...and the priest said 'you haven't looked at halls yet have you?' and I said no father...he asked why the date was significant and I said that we are both teachers and it was mutually convient for us...then we booked the date with the church and confirmed with the Swan Club...Its a pain because you almost have to do them simuntaneously!!! But DO NOT let the church know that you have been hall shopping they will not be happy

Re: Anyone church booking problem After booking hall?
We booked the church first (2 days after being engaged). Then finished looking at halls. I had actually started looking at halls before being officially engaged.
After deciding and booking the hall, we had to go back to the church and change the date and time. That was so easy, mostly b/c it was so far in advance.
So long as the church thinks they are booked first, I don't see a problem with it!

Will the church let you book it in anticipation of your annullment going through?

Our church wouldn't even tell us what dates were available until we came in and met with the preist.

Re: Anyone church booking problem After booking hall?
I would NOT recommend booking the hall first. I called in January for a date in November and the church was practically booked up already. The church is not going to move things around for you, where the hall might be able to. I would definitely recommend getting a date with the church first if you have your heart set on getting married in the church.

Re: Anyone church booking problem After booking hall?
We went to the halls first found a date and put a minimal deposit on the hall like $250 and they held it for us and said we would get our deposit back if the church was unavailable. I told my priest that I had picked a hall but had not booked it yet because I wanted to make sure the date was available there first. He was very helpful and didn't seem to mind and seemed glad that we had waited to see if our day was available at the church. Since I booked my wedding almost 2 years ahead of time I knew it would be available but they like to know that you think they are the most important.
