Dubai is supposed to be incredible. I would be wary of going to the Middle East though, just because of all the turmoil goint on there.
Are you looking to go somewhere where you just won't lay around on the beach all day?

We want to go somewhere we've never been before.
The problem is that we've been dating for a while now and have been to most of the 'popular' HM destinations already.

What about Costa Rica? I've heard GREAT things, and you get a mix of relaxing (if you want it) and adventure. I can't sit still for more than 15 minutes, so I can do the typical 'relaxing' vacation. I need to be hiking or skiing or deep sea fishing.
OR - what about the Galapagos? I'm DYING to go there, but I couldn't talk FH into it for a honeymoon. Maybe another time!

OH! We looked into Dubai!
Along with 10000 other things. Like you, we are pretty well traveled. We really LOVED the west coast of Africa too.
Dubai was in our top 3 but then we realized how pricey it was. The luxury hotels are VERY luxury and were running like $300 a person. And the flights were really expensive. We also were concerned that it might be more conservative there and that our binge drinking would cause stares.
Ultimately, I think we are doing Mexico because we are hooked on all-inclusive and dont want a long flight

My boss just went to Dubai a few weeks ago and said it was amazing. He only went for a weekend though as he was on business in Bombay. I was in New Delhi a few weeks ago and had the choice of having a stopover in Dubai and I said no, I wouldnt go there. I personally would not go to the Middle East for pleasure..I would be too afraid.

I'm Middle Eastern and visit every other year for a month. Let me know what you're looking into, and I'll get you whatever information you need.
Dubai - super expensive, but totally worth it for a HM!!!! It's absolutely AMAZING!
Cairo - same as Dubai, but not as expensive.
Lebanon (specifically June' beach) AMAZING, they call it the 'Paris of the West'...
Oh, and you do not have to speak a lick of Arabic b/c they DO speak English, and they DO NOT 'hate' Americans.
We've been to Egypt but we have not thought of Lebanon.

I'm Lebanese...so of course I had to throw that in there. It's a GORGEOUS country and fortunately not run by a Muslim regime where the law is run by religion.

Hey i know the ritz-carlton is right on the beach and thats where were going to stay for a few nights. it is on the pricier side but its our HM right!
We also looked at the Hyatt in dubai it looks nice as well! good luck.
