Anyone DIY a parasol?

It's going to be cheaper for me to buy one from the knot and paint 'thank you' on it myself than buying one on Etsy but I wanted to know how hard it is it to paint on it.

Once I got the template done, it took me about 30-45 minutes - and I used a Sharpie. I was worried about the paint cracking.
